  1. I ride the 156 HD and I weigh in at 163, it works perfect. My friend has a 160 and weighs in at 180. If you riding chopped up stuff and tight trees you will not be disapointed in the Fish. It will put a smile on your face. FYI, we both ride at 30/20 angles and 20" stance with hard boots. $200 is a steal. Where is that? I'll buy another one. Joel
  2. It truly comes down to a matter of preference and where you are riding most of your time. here is what I am getting at. I own or owned the following: Rossi 198 Undertaker, Nitro Powder Gun 188 (Swallowtail), F2 Lancelot (FishTail) 172 and a Fish 156 HD. I sold the Rossi Undertaker because here in Colorado (Aspen) there is no need to go that fast, everything is to tight for it. I will sell the Nitro as soon as I can. I am keeping the F2 and the Fish BUT the Fish is now my board of choice for here. It simply is the most versatile of all the above boards. It goes in the trees better than the others and it goes just as well as the others on the groom stuff when I need to get to the next stash. The Fish simply outturns the others and that works the best here. I can run tight lines along the trees and duck in whenever there is a shot to be had. I ride it with hard boots in the walk mode...very comfy and no problems. My friend uses the Fish exclusively when he goes Heli boarding...I have yet to be able to afford that so I can not comment on snow conditions that deep. Here in CO it is super rare if we are getting a dump of 2+ feet at a time. I am keeping the F2 because it is a fun board for when I am first on the hill and just want to go balls to the wall fast with very little turning. I have not had that oppurtunity to do that yet with the Fish to see how it handles. So it really comes to preference and where you are riding. Guys love the Swallows in the big opens and bottomless stuff but my feeling is that I would still rather have the Fish over any of my Swallows. Maybe if I lived at LaGrave that would be different :-)) Do you want to buy a Nitro Powder Gun????? Joel
  3. I was out on Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk the last 4 days and things are really good. Prior to last weeks dump it was ok in certain areas but now it's good all over. The snow has been soft (19" powder day last Thursday) but getting firmer with each days skiers traffic and the night grooming so the carving improves each day. We got through the worse traffic week of the year (xmas and new years) so from here in as long as we get near average snow storms we will be in great shape for SES. Buttermilks traffic will shoot down to near no one on the hill from now until you SES guys invade us. With the XGames around the corner (no one goes up during the games because of the complicity that the games bring to the hill) and the doldrum traffic of January, Buttermilk will hold its snow very well unless we get near summer weather. Highlands has excellent snow coverage and holds its snow very well...no traffic there on the groomers either. Snowmass gets good traffic so we'll see what happens there. Aspen mtn....I don't go there for carving...to many straight liners skiing fast. Joel
  4. looking for a used cheaper set of bindings, step-ins. for my powder board. they do not need to be stiff, flexy is better. thanks, Joel
  5. Phil, I just picked up a Fish 156, I am 163 lbs so I fit in that range for that length. I having been using Swallowtails for quite some time so this will be exciting to try this board. Can you give me some feedback as to what you are riding for stances and stance width? where you mounted your bindings? I'll be riding my plates, anything you've found about the Fish that will help me find my sweet spot. I'm hoping this will become my Colorado tree board of choice!!! You can respond here or e-mail me if you wish. jparker@sopris.net thanks, Joel

    Telluride?

There is now a good group of carvers there. It can be awesome but it can be a no go too. The grooming is not as dependable as the Aspen area. I lived there for 14 years but moved to Aspen because of the unpredicatable grooming there. When they groom Plunge, Bushwacker or Coonskin you'll have some of the best steepest carving anywhere. But if they don't then it's boring unless you grab a allmtn board and hit the bumps. I am sure David a local may peep in here and give some feedback but it's a 50/50 gamble for good carving DO NOT just bring a carving board or you'll be screwed. You can not compare to Aspen because Aspen has always exceptional carving everyday. Joel
  7. I've got a 172 for sale and it is in perfect shape. 14 Meter sidecut. Will sell it for $200 + shipping. I can estimate shipping USPS about $25.00 The board is in Glenwood Springs so if you are coming to Aspen area you could always try it out for fun. Joel
  8. Eric, I should be around most of the time your here. This is my phone # 970-948-3348 and I'll try to call the Lodge when I know what my schedule is like. Conditions right now are very good and Buttermilk Highlands open this Saturday Look forward to meeting you. Joel Parker:D
  9. FYI on some Glenwood (GWS) info. I live here so I hope this helps someone. GWS is only 10 minutes from Carbondale and if you miss every light it may be 13 minutes. Another 10 minutes to Basalt (not much lodging in Basalt). From my house to the base of Buttermilk usually takes me 45 minutes and a good day may be as little as 40 minutes. Only once did it take me about 1 hour and 15 minutes in a dumping storm. The roads are usually well taken care of but once in awhile they can't keep up. If it's dumping then just get up early and leave early, eat breakfast at the mtn. Add 5 minutes if you go to Snowmass, Aspen or Highlands. Also add time for the Snowmass shuttle if you park in the free lot, then it takes about another 10 minutes from the lot to the base. That covers your travel time, you add in your changing/goofing off time to that above. GWS is a cool town with more to offer (my opinion) than Carbondale or Basalt. Much cheaper than Aspen/Snowmass. Many great restaurants to choose from and 1/2 the price too. If you have questions feel free to write me at jparker@sopris.net Have fun, Joel

    sale!!!!!

I have a Rossi 198 Undertaker I would trade, it's in perfect shape. What would be your deal for the Coiler or F2 for the Rossi. I can send photos too. Joel
  17. I lived there for 13 years and recently moved to the Aspen area. That said the Aspen area blows T-ride away for hardbooting BUT Telluride can be a lot of fun if you hit the grooming right. Bushwacker is claimed to be the steepest groomed run in america it's not the longest by far. When it's groomed and it has snow it is a blast but both of those situations are a rariety there. Look out for a lot of rocks if the snow conditions are average. For steep and deep it's hard to beat when the big dump comes in, but almost any mtn in Colorado/Utah is hard to beat when it's dumping. If you move there I am sure you'll get some epic days for everything and not be overly disappointed BUT if you are looking to get the most bang for the buck there's better. Joel
  18. CarveBoard is sold...thanks
  19. I have a great 9 ply Carveboard for sale. $225.00 and that includes shipping in the states only. Joel jparker@sopris.net

    WTB GS/SG Board

I have a F2 186 Speedster in PRIME shape. I kept it waxed with flouro wax and the edges hgihly polished at 1 base and 3 side. It's the gray one, here is a picture. $275.00 Joel
  21. Base and edges are in pristine condition. Total days on the board are around 30 days and I weigh only 160lbs so the camber is like new. No dings anywhere on the board. It's been used exclusively on Buttermilk in Colorado so it has never seen ice. $300.00 + shipping pending on location. Joel
  22. Conditions are changing to spring conditions right now. Frozen mornings and slushy afternoons. Buttermilk had an awesome conditions day yesterday but with the sun it changed drastically by 1:00. I expect it was frozen solid this morning. The conditions of SES will probably not return unless we get a good dump. that is what I expect for the rest of the season.

    SES Poll

Eric, just FYI Luckily for me I had all 3 boards (Coiler Custom PR186's) on the Tuesday the day off of the SES at Buttermilk. I rode the Blue one first and really liked it. rode the Eliptical one second and found it to be more stable but turn harder.....then I rode the White and Red Maple Leaf one. Well after riding the Maple Leaf one I ran right home and talked to Bruce about the differences AND ordered that exact same board right then and there. That one blew away the other two by far. The Blue one was the original WCC construction but it has a stiffer mid section and had quite a bit of Carbon in it.. the Maple Leaf one is the new SuperBoard construction and it has no Carbon in it at all. Anyway the difference in the construction of the boards even though they were the same dimensions throughout was truly remarkable. I have both a 186 and a 172 F2 Speedster RS's and that one 186 PR will be replacing both. It turned small and big radius turns that damn good. It was simply the best board I had ever ridden. Just thought I would tell you what I found from testing all three that day. which F2 do you have? Joel

    SES Poll

Eric, just a note on the Coilers that Dave Morgan brought. The PR186. He brought 3, 1) Blue Flames top sheet 2)The eliptical top sheet 3) The Maple leaf top sheet. Each was a different construction and flex. so depending on which board you rode it would of turned and felt different than the other two. Do you remember which one you rode? Joel
