  1. Great new board Phil, you will not be dissapointed. Why did you go for the 156 instead of the 62. I know you have issues with the big boards but I think a 62 would have been more versatile. Or have you got a full custom with bigger sidecuts?

I think I am going to try and organise a Scottish Expression Session at Cairngorm this winter. There might just be three of us, but three alpine riders on a Scottish mountain would be good.

Hey Keiran, you been up yet?

  2. I'm still trying to figure out how I'll ever work up the courage to go and have a crap whilst leaving my hugely expensive new board outside. Not that anyone at your average resort would be able to ride it away, but they could carry it off and hang it on their wall...
That is a major problem. When my pride and joy was new, coffee and toilet breaks were a nervous occasion. One day at Flaine I had it propped up against the restaurant fence with my ladies ski's, went for coffee and ablutions, came back the skis were there but my board was not:eek:. I felt like a close family member had just passesd away but when we got closer I found it had slipped down behind the fence. I have never know relief like it.

The good thing is most people don't know what an alpine board is so they will be stealing Burton's etc.

The best thing to do is have coffee outside at waitered tables and take the Kessler to the toilet. As there is not normally newspapers in the toilets it will be something good to look at.

And finally, Michelle that board is awsome. Specs please and why no upm?

  3. Wow Phil you have been trying for a new board for ages and low and behold you go full on and get a race machine. You will not be disappointed, you will probably want a 185 next.

Don't know why you are perturbed by a groomed lady the last time I saw you on the web, you were all over a frozen backside!;)

  4. absofrigginlutely, but 'gorm have bought a winch kit for one of the beasts.

they'll be grooming the lady, and probably laogh mor again if we get another massive dump ... :eplus2:

That is good news, a well groomed lady. Mind you a trip to Aonach Mor would probably the best bet for that monster. Have you ridden the donek indoors yet, if so how many turns did you manage? half a turn:eek:

  5. Hey Keiran, If the shipping costs are not that prohibitive you should buy it. Then you can test it on my SG which is inserted for Vist while I kick the arse out of your Donek with its shiny new plate:).

  6. i wondered about that. i was thinking maybe to pick up a set of used titanflex/intec bindings for the rear foot.

I have **** loads of crap you can have, borrow and abuse. Bindings, intec's etc. But, can I have a go your Donek board flex equaliser.

P.S. Don't take it to a fridge, you won't get one decsent turn in. Play on words I know, but save it for the masssive amount of snow that is comming this winter. There are hardbooters around, but they are not normal, give them a bit of space. I know one in Laggan and one in Kingussie. Everyone a Scotch pusssie. x

  7. Just been having my usual pre-season, preamble, drool of the forthcoming weirdo snowboard equipment and found this:-

    http://sg-snowboards.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/FULL_CARVE_SG_BOARD_DETAIL_SNOWBOARDS_RIDER_SIGI_GRABNER_LOCATION_SCUOL_PIC_SAM.jpg

Its a good test but if you want lateral movement I would modify the bindungen on this babe.

No rubber/elastomer but I think they will be quite spongey.

Maybe this is the answer to people like me who think plate systems are good but can't justify the cost, weight and the bloody extra screws and gubbings that will be lost in the garage. I have a Catek(right) and will swap for a F2titanium/Bomber Sidewinder(right). :1luvu:

  8. Ditto for what Hans said. Even if the weather is poor, that valley is very beautiful. I had a season in Finkenberg (just down the road) many moons ago and it was amazing. Outside the main winter season I have only ridden Tux in June, it was great. We even had some fresh. If you are looking to ride with someone put a post out on Extremecarving and FrozenBackside, there is bound to be someone there at that time.

Ps Can I be your best friend, brewing and carving, wow.

  9. Not flex board torsionally = unpossible.

I love your strength, do you have nice eyes and a cute arse, because if you do I will forgive your spelling and grammar. Its quite attrocious. Immposible.

    Ps

Guarantee I will flex those too.
    How big are your guns.

I am playing but if you are going to write do it properly.

  10. Please continue this thread as its very amusing and is stopping me from losing the plot from lack of snow.

I'll have a crack. Pedaling is a load of cock, look at Benjamin Karls set up. His board is a modern race board with a very stiff isolation plate system, which allows the board to flex naturally and longitudally but not torsionally.

Then again if I was riding old equipment (burner) I might try some pedaling(altering the sidecut by torsionally flexing the board with fore and aft pressure of the feet) as my old Dutch coach told me to do.

Please commence the battle so the war can be won:1luvu:.

  11. maybe we should get scrutton in on the game as well and then there'd be four of us.
We could have our own SES-Scotish Expresion Session. Also is scrutton from Durham UK or Durham USA. Could be just the three of us.

Maybe I should point my car in the other direction and get up there to take some shots...

I'm up for that. You can use your shiny new car.
  12. I just got a used SG and use Cateks. Wondering if I should spring for a set of risers also.

I've been using Cateks on my SG 163 pro without risers and have had no problems. I am roughly 85kilos, use Full Tilt ski boots and ride fairly aggressively so the boards are bomb proof. The two inserts I think you are talking about are for Vist plate system and I would definitely not get one of those with the new systems that are about to come our way. Those perspex riser's were for boards with metal for the top sheet, such as older Kesslers and Prior. SG's metal is underneath the top sheet.

  13. A massive big thanks to everyone, you have given me a lot of homework to do. The photo's have been great to. I have just got back from my last summer vacation in Portugal and now I am getting properly excited for the onset of winter. I have two trips to France planned and some days in Scotland weather permitting, (get that Donek dialed in Keiran cause the Gorm is getting a hard boot blitz)for 2010/11 but I am really looking forward to the season after. I will let you know which resort gets picked and then will be asking you for all relevant information, carving slopes, etc.

  14. speaking of destinations, are you going to take any time up here this coming season?
I'll be there, so make it a better winter than last year.

mammoth does have a ton of good riding but it's really high traffic too so any good pow gets tracked out quick

Sounds like Whistler, Chamonix and Verbier all amazing places to board but fresh tracks dissapear there at an alarming rate, unless you know where to look or a local helps you.
  15. I know it's kind of a silly question to ask on this forum, but what kind of riding are you looking for?
It will be for all abilities of skier and boarder. Of course I will leaving fine lines with my hard boots.

Jack you should work for Jackson Hole's tourist board as you've sold it to me.

John E As Ursle said - if you come to Aspen Feb 5th - 11th,
As I have mentioned I am not organising the trip, only helping to choose destination. I am trying very hard to manipulate the choice of Aspen at the beginning on Feb 2012.

Please keep the ideas coming as they are very helpful. Thanks

  16. You should be able to demo a tanker in Europe as Radair is a Swiss company. Give them an email and they will be able to tell you which shops have demo models. You have mentioned German Ebay, this is a bood place to get cheap hard boots. What size are you I have a pair of upz's I was going to stick on ebay in the winter you can have cheap.
