  1. willow15, they've been using the new winch-fitted PB with great results. get those edges polished.

Yeah, I saw some pics (think it was on Winter Highland) of the Lady and it looked amazing.

You must be really beating yourself up, everytime I check out the Scottish webcams I think of you shouting at your wrist " why this season you F%"*&r".

    Take it easy.

  2. A certain amount of it is political, even, and I have somewhere between zero and zero motivation and intention to plunge myself into the expat community; certainly in Chamonix. Over here I've been accepted as a brother by the French. I've been treated like **** by the expats. Far as I'm concerned, they can continue to pretend to themselves that Chamonix is a little part of Kensington, complain loudly to themselves about the locals' appalling manners, and keep their heads stuffed firmly up their arses. I want nothing to do with them.
Don't tar every Brit with the same brush tufty. I am a Brit who loves new gear, not that I have bought any recently. I am currently living in the UK so do not get many days riding a year, probably less than 30. I did seasons back in the late 80's and early 90's and love my sport of snowboarding(if anyone asks I am an alpine snowboarder). My last purchase was an €1000 SG and think it was worth every cent, and I am currently saving for something metal and 185 (the choice is unbelivable at the moment).

Don't get me wrong though, I go to the Alps every year and know exactly what you mean about most Brits. No wonder we have a sh*t reputation in France. I wish I had the money to spend on a £1000 kyuss jacket and all the trimmings then wander around any resort skiing/snowboarding with no respect for surroundings/locals etc.

Chamonix, been there a few times and hated every minuite. 40 a*%holes for every Alp and everyone thinks they are a pro mountaineer/skier/boarder.

The best thing I find is let your riding do your talking no matter what you have on your feet. Have a good season and I am out in La Plagne at the beggining and middle of Feb if you fancy some alpine riding.

  3. F-me Kieran, who did you piss off at the hospital. I thought you might get a pot so you could get some sneaky riding done in January but that's now out of the question. Where did you get the scaffold, Invershneckie.

  4. Glad you are ok Dave. I think you have been very lucky, especially as you were not at fault and I'll tell you why.

Part of my work is extracting unfortunate people who have been involved in road collisions, and I have lost count the number of incidents I have attended where the driver at fault walks free while the innocent driver/passenger is trapped in a mangle of metal with horrific injuries.

So go and give your family another massive hug.

  5. Please someone give this guy a go. I am heading up to Scotland this season for a Scottish expression session, and the last thing I need is a burly 6 footer Highlander chasing me down the hill with a plate and a gs board. I have no plate and a sl board.

Strange things happen to people who are denied certain things, think prison or desert islands.

So, Michelle have a holiday in Aviemore. Plus you can promote some Bomber products in the UK:cool:

  6. Karl is by far the Strongest rider on the world cup the guy is over 200lbs and he is probably the only one who can ride is type of plate.
Thanks Seb, I have never been to a WC snowboard race so your insight on BK's plate system is great. You have actually reminded me of a time I was working in Austria way, way back in 87ish and there was a WC GS race (ski) and I was dumbfounded at the size of thse guys.

Have a good season and charge hard.

  7. “This is a special win for me,” stated the 2010 Olympic runner-up. “Prior to the race, a brutal equipment battle took place. Now, everyone is riding with the same material as I do. The whole field closed ranks. But with this victory in store, I know that I’m still there.”
This is a Quote from Benjamin Karl from Fis lg site http://www.fissnowboard.com/uk/news/podium-sweeps-for-russia-ladies-and-austria-men,146.html

I read that quote and thought plate systems. Then I saw this video which confirmed my suspicions, http://www.fissnowboard.com/uk/videos/race-video.html

After listening to lots of people on this site talking up, and talking down plate systems (many who have never used one:confused:) I would love to hear a racers perspective. Obviously Karl is worried as most other racers are using systems as good as his. What I find amazing is that Karl has been using his home made meccano for a while now but its still there with the Apex'$.

Even if you don't like racing, the final between Karl and Prommegger is a fine tutorial of how to demolish gates. I know Prommegger misses his last gate but what an amazing ride.

If these links don't work go to the fis site and follow from there.

  8. At the beggining of every season I watch this forum avidly to see the new boards being produced. Every board I see gets the juices flowing but every Coiler I see makes me drool like Homer Simpson in a free bar with complimentary doughnuts. Crack676 I envy you.

I think the next time I type anything will be an email to Ontario.

  9. And i am sure that the guy who sold me the last year 600$ board for 240$ still made a profit(if it is anywhere near the profit margin that clothes have even with 90%discount!)

This is my opinion and if you guys like it or not i don't give a damn!

You are quite correct, its your opinion. The truth is snowboard hardwear has little profit margins for shops.

I also work very part time in the building industry and profit margins compared to a sporting pastime are huge. If I comisioned a carpenter to make me a replica antique gaming table it would cost thousands, but if I want a bespoke alpine snowboard built to my specification it will cost me around a thousand.

Kill bad guy's & protect the inocent & the weak
I hope you are not a cop, but I suspect you are.
  10. Although hair related appointments are few and far between in my case I'm afraid.
    touché

    or toupée

But on a more serious note, when you head up to jockland go A1 then stop over newcastle and car share the rest of the journey in mine. I can do Aviemore in 4 hours on a good run. Also I suspect you are running petrol so I'll be a bit more economical. I am using tractor juice(white not red).

  11. I guess a 185 would just about fit, although this one only fits in tail-first as the taper means the nose is too wide for a standard ski-hatch.

Screw it onto the boot so you can get some downdraught onto the back wheels for the next hair appointment.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I could'nt resist:p

  12. Even better, the £250 I paid BMW for a "through loading" hole in the back of my car works! ;-) Plus it's about to snow out there.
You don't need it for a 156. But as you paid bmw £250 for the priveledge of a hole in your seats you should justify it by emailing Hans and ordering a 185 :).

Also if it is snowing you ain't going anywhere with rear wheel drive.:p

With all the snow in Geordie land at the moment I wish I had gone for Quattro on my estate.
