  1. 18 1/2" is to narrow for me but it was cheap on fleabay and i could not resist.
  2. Its not a prior and the polish is not perfect but the Scottish public was awed by it. Then again it was about 8 years ago i was boarding there so everyone was probably amazed at an alpine set up. First time on metal for me to, and wow no going back.
  3. Has anyone had a metal board snap with poly plates?
  4. Only got the one, and the last time i used it was on full length poles but it worked. I luckily got mine for free but remember they were very expensive.
  5. Thought about crack but i am a traditionalist (apart from metal) , so will be going down the heroin route.
  6. Hey Dan, the board is actually in Switzerland and the starting bid is 500 Swiss Francs which equates to roughly 500 Us dollars. "Ich nehme an, Sie würden nicht daran interessiert, in der Schifffahrt in den USA, würden Sie?" is German for your question(thats a google translation) but the guy speaks English if you are interested. If you get it, i am one heavy jealous pie eater.
  7. Can any BOL members perform stomach stapel operations. I am 5'10" and a 190lbs, this may seem quite reasonable but i want to be 159lbs. This is the reason why:- http://cgi.ebay.ch/KESSLER-SLALOMBOARD_W0QQitemZ120212119941QQihZ002QQcategoryZ59756QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Damn all skinny snowboarders.
  8. www.alpinecarving.com/wtc06/add/ I found this very helpful. All you have to figure out is cant and lift.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130188469547&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003 Old board but it is excellent and so are Led Zepplin, good things last.
  10. How many world cup ski racers are making videos? Exactly, it does not help their performance by showing anyone and the cats mother they can free ski. Racing gates is hard and takes session after session to get right. Also there are a lot more people who want to see someone spinning upsidedown rather than someone bashing gates, how many people watch a halfpipe contest compared to pgs? Its sad but a fact of life, to the uneducated masses snowboard freestyle is more impressive to watch than snowboard racing, but some of us know a damn fine carver when we see one.ps You should actually see a racer freecarving fassstttttt
  11. williamblake, If i can be arsed, i want to explore my loft and get a very customised pj 7( i think the tail is called teal bluebue many might call it turquaise) take a photo, and post it. It was and is the best board i have ever ridden. I know reminisence can be subjective but i have owned every slope from Scotland to cpr ridge and know when stuff works and that did. The reason why i tell thee this is (the photograph) aprove that fasion and have old photos to embarrass myself many times over.
  12. This whole thing is going is going a bit crazy. I now want to tell everyone assymetrical is the way forward if you are getting a custom board made. It makes sense if you understand mathemathics, the centre of the sidecut should be in the centre of your stance i.e. toes and heels! Increase or decrease the camber of the board to increase or decrease the radius of the turn. Why let metal do the work when maths can. Let the battle begin.
  13. I raced against Jean Nerva in January 1990 at Les Menuires in the National Vuarnet DE Surf De Neiges. In the super g i am sure he was using the first pj(the red one 7.1) and in the slalom a new pj 5, but can't be sure. I was riding a safari one which was 160 and a slalom board. From what i can rememder the safari 1 multi coloured ,2 black and white and 3 b+w were commercial available in the 87-88 season. After that came the pj 5,6and 7, i am not sure which country they came from but my 5 and 7 were samples and the quality was superb as i still have them. The id number on my 5 is 000000052, i cannot remember when i got them but i was riding them well before any shops had them. Incidentally Jean won the super g and Dennis Bertrand won the slalom, other riders included Eric Rey and Serge Vitelli. Ahh the good old days. P.s will not discuss my position in the race but a time machine would have been helpful to get near Monsouir Nerva's time.
  14. Wow, a hardbooter in the uk. Hi dantheman, i definately would like to hook up for some riding, and the same goes to anyone else in the uk who has seen the light. Drop me an email. Ps not buying the board but it rocked the last time i rode one( i think it was in 88 or 89) but not as much as my safari 1 which i would buy. I am so old!!!!!!
  15. Should i buy this ( ebay item number 110207850450)? My lady would think junk but my kids could have history, and i would have a great antique. Or should i stop living in the past and save those pennies for a kessler. Happy new year to all the bol'ers.
  16. If you want to use modern plates, there is a way. Try and get some three hole discs for your bindings. Then take your board to a good Snowboard technician and get them to make the 3d insert pattern using the centre hole of the five hole pattern and using t-nut's. This minimises damage as you only have to drill the board four times instead of eight as you would if you wanted a four hole pattern. I have two pj's drilled this way and they ride great because it also widens the stance. Or better still get some old Burton rat traps and a pair of old Koflach ski mountaineering boots, that's how i used to ride mine in 88. I will try and post some pictures of my pj's so you know whay i am talking about. Enjoy
  17. As i mentioned before atomic firestarter is great. I have driver x's and top end burton bindings(c 60 i think) This all works good for me, what i am trying to say is go stiff. I can take this set up anywhere pipe, park, steeps etc. and not pine to much for my alpine gear cause i have got great edge control and stability on icy hard snow, and that is with a duckfoot stance. I have used soft, soft boots and while they are great for boning out air, they just feel so unresponsive, especially toeside. Try on as many boots as you can to get the perfect fit but definitely go stiff, thats what your hard boot heritage would want. Good luck
  18. That guy should go to the german ebay. A second hand Kessler slalom 56 or 58 (can't remember the exact length) went for $332 and there are more factory prime's (if he like's his burtons) than you can shake a stick at. Hopefully he will find this site and see the light.
  19. If you can find a cheap one on ebay, an Atomic Firestarter. I am riding an 05/06 model and it rocks. As for binding angles try whatever feels good, at the moment i am riding 15 degrees front and -15 on the back and still carving better than most on the hill thanks to all my hard booting.
