  1. Like I said, it's got a 22.5 waist, not the standard 21.5 (see the Nyberg Axxess 183 on the Donek Spec sheet). I'm just reading the angle off the TD1 bindings. If it's not 45, it's pretty close. :D
  2. Hey Snowcarvr, I'm setting up my first board, an Axxess 183 with a 21.5 waist and I also ride a size 13 boot (I'm riding Burton Furnaces 30.5). I'm 6'3" and around 220. Now I'm new to hardbooting (I'll be falling all over Wachesetts next Tuesday if all goes according to plan) but there are a few discussions going on that should help you out around setup and "ridability" of the Axxess. For what it is worth, I think I can get my angles to around 45/40 without any overhang. The following quote came from this thread. You should also take a look at this discussion. Axis Discussion

    FS: DAKINE Dually

Can you post a pic? I'm in Boston and I'm interested, as I think my new board is too long for my Burton padded bag, but I can't find any working links with info on this board. You can email any info you have (a description if you don't have pics) to: zrmwork at gmail dot com
  4. Got what I needed from Bomber and Amazon, thanks Tex1230!
  5. If you like the size of Killington, but want fewer crowds, Sunday River is a nice mountain. Big for the east, I'd put both it and Killington over Stratton.
  6. Mine are red, so I guess a 98. That's exactly what I needed to know, thanks.
  7. Hey guys, I was just feeling things out in the living room in my NOS Burton Furnaces, and I'm not sure how to adjust the walk/lean spring in the heel. I know it's "open" to "walk" and snapped shut to ride, but when closed the mechanism snaps into place but then still flexes forward what feels like too much (goes fron the 10 deg to ~25 deg without weighing too much into the boots). I see a spring and two nuts in there, I assume I'm tightening the bottom one, but I just wanted to check before I start wrenching. Is there a stiffer spring that was once available on this. There is also an allen nut head on the inside of the ankle that says flex/cant, that's not adjustable from there is it? I weigh 220-225, so I know I'll be flexing them, I just what to know how to tighten things up some.
  8. Derf, I appreciate the advice, but I decided that the extra CM of width in the waist on Mort's custom Axxess (22.5 instead of 21.5) more than makes up for the extra length on the board (182 over 172). It really doesn't seem all that long, my soft board was a 172. Anyway, I laid everything out on the living room floor and I think I can get my angles to about 45 deg rear and 50 front without overhang (30.5 Burton Furnaces are pretty big). I'm waiting on a donek topsheet protector from Sean before I put it all together as I'm using TD1s. Now I just can't wait for some snow out here. Anyway, thanks for all the good advice. Looking forward to meeting the New Englanders this winter and getting more of it. Best, Zach

    Bomber Bindings

I bought them, should be here in tomorrow's mail.
  10. Went with FedEx Ground. I think the total was about $30.
  11. Yup, I saw that link at the Bomber store, and if nobody has used, that's exactly what I'll do. I'm just looking for savings where I can find them. Thanks
  12. Hey guys, Looking for some bumpers for some TD1s with mounting screws, I'd like medium, but let me know if you have firm. I'd also like a set of mounting hardware for the bindings (8 M8 x 16mm & 8 M6 x 10mm). Thanks, Zach email be through site or at zrmwork at gmail dot com
  13. I did read that, that's why a said "I saw how to package them (thanks)." My question was whether any one of the domestic carriers was better on these type of boxes than the others. I know USPS recently changed how they handle oversized boxes, and what defined OS 1 and OS 2. I figured as much as you guys are shipping boards around, there may be consensus as to the best carrier. I think we'll go with FedEx, but I wanted to know if there was any informed recent opinion.
  14. I saw how to package them (thanks) but what's the best way to ship boards? USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL? About how much does it cost to send a board (no bindings) across country (coast-to-coast)? I'm talking about a 182, so the package should be around 73" x 12" x 2". What should I expect shipping to cost?
  15. Just got the boots today! They look awsome, better than described! Seem to be about a perfect fit. Thanks! It was a pleasure doing business!!
  16. I was going to say the same thing as everyone else. I have some old boards I'm happy to pull out and ride. It's also worth saying that new is no guarantee. I pulled the core through the top-sheet of a Ride once the first day I took it out. They were happy to swap it out (of course) but that's the only time I've really had a total failure, and the equipment was brand new.
  17. OK, before I pull any triggers here. I'm looking at a few Donek Axxesses that are available, because I do think the FC 1 is going to be too thin to learn on (and maybe to ride ever, but I'll wait and see). There is a 172 with a 21.5 waist (standard build) and a 182 with a 22.5 waist (it was a custom, Donek stiffness 7.7). As I said before I'm an experienced rider, and I''m 6'3" 230. My wide All Mountain/Free Ride Burton Baron ES is a 172. Is 182 going to be too long to learn to carve on (I'll admit that's what I'm leaning towards, just so you know)? Will 172 seem too short once I get comfortable on it. From what I've read, I get the feeling that the Axxess might be the board I'll stay on for the foreseeable future. I know you all can't make this decision for me, but any advice will be appreciated. I wish I'd asked before I got the FC 1 (though it really was a good deal, and someday maybe I'll be ready to carve with my feet basically pointed forward). Thanks, sorry for all the annoying questions. I thought about calling Sean to ask him his opinion and explain that once I got it figured out and know what I need, I'll buy a new one from him, but I figured he had better things to do this time of year. BTW, anyone looking for a used Donek FC 1 179? ;)
  18. True enough, you pay a lot to have a custom board built for yourself. However, custom built for someone else is less of a selling point. You may want to let us know how much you weight so we have some sense of who they were custom built for. Thanks
  19. Yeah, I'd certainly be interested, depending on the date. Zach
  20. OK, just to be clear, this may not be the board to learn on, but if I were to pick up the Alp 171 (or ideally an Axis) to learn on, this is a board I can hope to progress to?...depending on whether I like angles over 70. Fair enough. Well, I really got a great deal on the board, and I have some time to change things up before there is snow on the ground, maybe I'll try to swap it for an Axis 177. At the very least, I'm still in the market for a good leaning board. One last question (for now), do riser plates on Alpine boards allow you to get back any angle like they do on soft boots? Or does the fact that there should be no overhang at all mean risers don't help. Is there any benifit to them?
  21. 1.5 cm is going to make that big a difference? Well if it does not work I can always sell it or put it up for trade for a wider board. What do you think that difference in width translates into in terms of degrees/angle of binding setup?
