Glad you got to ride it before the season ended and thanks for posting a review. I was talking to Mark around the same time as Keenan over a year ago about getting something similar. I thought 202cm sounded too big, so went with something shorter. After seeing how it turned out and reading Keenan's impressions, as well as having a recent personal revelation that maybe bigger is better, I contacted Mark last week about buying board #2 only to hear it just went out the door to you.

No worries though, as I'm now I'm in line for a custom built TS. :biggthump Maybe he'll also make one for himself while the jig is set up for it.

    Good review, thanks.

After today it's a confirmed slush slayer.

  2. I just took it out in 7-10" of new.  I even did some tree runs, which was a little scary until I realized that you can maneuver it like a much shorter board.  Not only does it float, it's pretty easy to turn.  I was able to get fresh stuff in some flat sections that nobody else dared, It never got stuck, just floated on through.  Then I railed some pretty tight turns on the groomers.  Someone needs to buy the one that Mark has in stock, you wont be sorry.

I think Tamarack is Thur-Sun So they have powder Thursdays They get fewer people so if your going to there thur a weekend do Brundage on the weekdays. Both do a ok job of grooming and have green to high blue groomers and some good off trail. Tamarack has some nice runs with rollers haven't ridden the north lift it just got put back after being repossessed it looks live good terrain.  Both can get 1-2 foot dumps I run a 174 Coiler NFCE in anything less than a foot when I go to either

Thanks.  The website says they are only open Fri-Sun, I wasn't aware of this.  I wonder how much the limited hours of operation contributed to the bankruptcy.

  4. I got to ride it today, first day of the season for me and there was enough coverage to warrant riding a new board.  So here's the story.  I've always wanted a Tanker 201 but they were a little wider than what I prefer to ride.  I also heard that their build quality suffered when they moved production to China.  So I hassled Mark for over a year to build a board like the Tanker but narrower and Thirstier.  He did, it rocks.

It snowed a couple of inches yesterday so the groomers were pretty soft today.  A carving board would have been fine if you didn't try to tip it on edge too much.  The TS was perfect.  I took it through 2" of fresh, down some steeps, through chopped up groomers, I did fairly short radius turns on a cat track, and cranked some big deep carves as well. This is the longest board that I've ever ridden and is surprisingly forgiving.  Mark built in a generous amount of flex in the board, and a fair amount of rise in the tip and tail.  As I drove home I was thinking, if I was to go on a trip where I didn't know what the weather would be and I could only take one of my boards, which one would I take?  The TS.

I will update this when I get to ride on some hard pack.  I'm pretty sure it will rip.

I hate to create more work, but is there a way to pay for a subscription without using PayPal?  PayPal and I have had some bad experiences in the past.  I think my account is valid again, but I'm reluctant to use it again.

    Ditto.

  6. Last season, I had never been to Ski Bluewood in SE Washington State.  I bought an online deal 3 advanced tickets good for any day for $40 off retail price.  The closest town is Dayton (about 45 minutes from Bluewood).  I shopped online and chose what appeared to be the least offensive of the two fleabag motels. I drove 5 1/2 hours on Thursday and checked in.  After paying I noticed a small sign behind the counter that said "No Refunds".  Now when travelling alone I have pretty low standards, so I thought, how bad can it be?  I moved into the room, I was the only one in the hotel and they had just "cleaned it".  The motel was from the 1950's and I'm pretty sure it was all original, the sheets, towels and carpeting all so thin you could see through them.  The stench was too much.  I ended up moving to the Best Western and forfeiting about $250 for the room.  I drove to Bluewood the next day and it was raining so hard that I did 2 runs.  I was on a 175cm board with fresh wax and I couldn't turn because it was too sticky.  I almost went head over multiple times.  Back at the hotel I watched the ever changing weather pattern, heavy rain.  I got online and bought a 'good for one day' ticket to Anthony Lakes in Eastern Oregon (about a three hour drive).  The next day Bluewood was closed due to flooding, so was the highway out of town. So I had to drive an extra 2 1/2 hours around the flooding.  When I got to I-84 (the way to Anthony Lakes) it was flooded.  I drove home.

14 1/2 hours of driving, $550 on lodging,  4 purchased lift tickets and 2 runs.

I was able to make it to Anthony Lakes 3 weeks later where I paid about $22 a day for lift tickets and had  great time.

    Such a tease...

    Full frontal please

Apparently, I have used up too much file to download any more.  I don't know if I will be able to upload more tomorrow.  I tried to delete the picture and upload a PDF with all of the pictures but no luck.

    Thirst TS 202:

    202 cm

    169.5 effective edge

    22 cm waist

Big floater nose and a sweet flex for groomers, powder or crud.

Second one is in the press, you know you want one.

Absolutely beautiful board and the blue sidewalls matched with the colors of the top sheet is just so smooth.

Has anyone won the Timberline lottery yet and made it up there?  It looks like it sells out in a minute or less.

I tried it the first day.  They were supposed to go on sale at 9AM I logged on at 8:55 and they were all taken.
