  1. Titanal Monster for sale.  Low mileage, old lady ridden, parked indoors, serviced regularly...

For real, this board is in good condition with only minor base scratching (easily repairable), top sheet is excellent.  Built for a 175 rider weight but ridden about 45 days by a 155 pounder.  Base has never been ground, no base repairs to date, edges are at about 80% remaining.

$450 CND plus shipping within Canada.  Can hand deliver anywhere between Revelstoke and Calgary.

  2. High quality, hard and smooth corduroy today at the 'Ghee. Don't worry though, Colleen and I wrecked it good.

Last Monday was epic. Hands down the best powder day we've experienced in four seasons here. 32" of Targhee lightness in 24 hours on a deep, soft base. Chest deep windrifts, thigh high everywhere else. We were tunneling through the ditches at high speed. (Choking on snowballs!)

You all need to come up here for the Targhee experience.

  3. Am I famous yet?

I just couldn't drag my old man body out of bed this morning, and that's the one I need for riding so... Sorry I missed you. Hopefully we'll have some more perfect corduroy days soon and I'll catch up with you and Wendy then.

How's the new Donek treating you? I bet you were rocking that thing by the end of the day.

Kelly: how was the SES? Are you planning to cross the pass any time soon? Bring some Daves. The old crew is sorely missed and badly needed here; I just can't wreck all the corduroy by myself every day - there's too much! Colleen is helping some but she needs you to show her how the trenching is done.

  4. If you don't have a metal board yet, this ride will definitely cut your times. You'll never go back to glass...

Uhmmm... I was kind of joking about the bindings. Sorry. Maybe I should have used an emoticon  ? They're just crappy soft boot bindings that are barely worth more what they'll cost to ship.

How about if I just knock $25 bucks off the board? $365 shipped? Send paypal info. Can ship tomorrow.

  5. Knee Deep,

I do have a set of Burton Custom bindings kicking around that I could throw in gratis. Really though, this board will look great on you!

If you plan to race it at high speed (USASA GS, for example), you should be about 140-155lbs I think. It was made for 160lb aggressive freecarving, though it is a race model of course.

  6. Really? No one wants a Metal Coiler Classic? This is a killer board in good condition with lots of life remaining. 181cm long, 13.2m scr, 19mm waist, decambered nose, 181T 08JC1 - 6.4 - D4.5. This board held every turn I ever put to it!

How about $390 shipped (to the lower 48)? Surely that's a deal right?

  7. Wow! Gone in under an hour! The All Mountain is sold, I'm gonna miss it...

Classic 181 Titanal still available. Fast and turny... I'll miss that one too.

Looks like I'm gonna have to be satisfied with only two metal Coilers to ride for the rest of the winter. (Three if my woman lets me try her schtubette.)

  8. Old School FP for sale (circa 2001?). 157cm long, 137cm running length, 9.59m scr, 18mm waist. Fun, stiff slalom board for lighter weight riders. Some base and topsheet damage but no core shots, deep gouges, or edge damage. Can't speak to the full history, but it still rides great with tons of pop.

$140 plus shipping from Driggs, Idaho.

  9. Two metal Coilers for Sale! Both custom made for me for the 07/08 season, well cared for, ridden only by myself. Both are in very good condition with only minor base and topsheet scratches, no base repairs, never been ground. Made for a 160lb aggressive rider, ridden by a 150lb aggressive rider. Both are clean, waxed, sharp and ready for action.

Classic 181cm: (white with black ellipses - lower case block letter logo) 181T 08JC1-6.4-D4.5. 13.2m scr, 19mm waist, has seen maybe 40 days.

    $450 plus shipping.

  10. Gentlemen (and Lady),

Looks like we're not gonna make the SES this year. The van's not quite ready and we have other excuses too...

Stop by the 'Ghee if you like. We've got two extra beds and spare buddy passes open for you hardbooters anytime. Be warned though, there's no cordoroy this year - only deep, clean fresh powder... Daily. Seriously, we've only had two short half days on the new mega-classic and schtubette all season. While I'm missing the carving, it seems that the more powder I ride, the more I want to ride powder. (Can I say that on Bomber?)

We're missing the old crew. Hope you all can make it out here for some turns before it all melts.

    James and Colleen

  11. That photo is not so sad. I recognize Dave's posture: he's just choosing the next song on his ipod, getting charged up to lay out some screamers...

Hey Dave, can I send some things to your place in Idaho Falls? We're leaving Calgary today, hopefully not to return 'till spring, but the new Coilers haven't shipped yet and we don't have a mailing address in Driggs. Would you call or email me your info please? I'll let you ride the brand new extra stiff, extra long classic... (and the schtubette too if you like - it'll go well with your new suit).

    Thanks Buddy, see you soon.

Looking forward to seeing y'all in December, and our old mutual friend 'Roy too.

  12. Who makes the best wrist and hand protection for carving? It seems they're all designed for impact on the thumb side, but it's the outside of my hand and my fingers that touch the snow first.

Any thoughts on the Level Biomex guards? How about the RED or Dakine snowboarding gloves?

  13. We couldn't do it. The cars were packed but the snow just kept on falling. Last night at midnight we waded out to the parking lot to retrieve our gear and bindings; we re-mounted the powder sticks and made it up for early tracks again.

That early tracks thing is addictive. 10 000 feet of fresh tracks for fifty bucks - unbeatable. Though I am the crackaddict, when the time came to commit I couldn't do it. I guess I love riding too.

Today was so deep we were just straightlining even the steepest terrain on the sac like the northern lights and the shadow woman. This is the slow light stuff that's perfect for great face plants and summer saults.

Wednesday was awesome too, with less snow but way denser so we actually made some turns - even some good ones! I spent all that morning just high marking the bowl. The sac was thrashed by 9am.

Ok, this time for real. We're stripping the boards, re-loading the cars, and heading to Vegas. Hope to be on rock by tomorrow afternoon. You all get to enjoy the new freshies tomorrow! This storm's not over yet. I am very tempted to stay on, but I have been training all winter (on and off) for this spring trip, and I've got some projects in mind and less than two weeks to be home.

Thanks again to the crew for making this such a great year. Wow. Can't wait until next season!

    Have fun out there...

  14. Best season ever! So many great monster days, I've forgotten those few icy ones already.

Colleen and I did that early tracks thing yesterday for a big powder finish to the winter. Totally worth it, what a riot!

It has been truly great to ride with all you Coiler folks. I never thought I would be resting Fridays and riding all weekend, but the crew was just to much fun to carve with, even if I did trip over the occasional trench.

Dredman, you've definitely raised the bar for me this year; you've demonstrated what's possible and given something to work towards. You helped me push my board and my body through old boundaries and bad habits. Now carving feels almost too easy. I guess it's time for a bigger board eh? (Don't worry, I'll make sure Coco gets hers too.)

Dave and Kelly, you two have made such incredible progress this season. I never would have expected you guys to be laying it down so quickly. I guess the right gear, a good coach and daily training runs at the King make a pretty good substitute for ten years of balancing a stiff FP edge on eastern hardpacked green runs eh? By this time next year you'll both be trenching up the steeps and I'll have to go back to resting on weekends...

We didn't buy that 4x4 van. Turns out we can't import a Quigley modified vehicle to Canada, and I can't drive one up there that's registered to Colleen. Looks like my dream van will cost more than double what I was hoping; only new vehicles are eligible for modification. Oh well, the old camper van still runs. (Barely.)

Today we strip the bindings from all our boards, pack the vehicles and clean the condo. Feels like a bummer, but we'll be climbing in the sun again by Saturday (when you all will probably be digging deep in the soft stuff up here.) Great memories and cool videos will help me through the summer (well, that and some inspiring rock faces). I'll look forward to riding with the gang on perfect corduroy again next season. I'm pretty sure we're coming back (what else could be so much fun?), hope you're all here too. Bring Coilers...

    Here's a bit more helmet-cam video:

    http://www.vimeo.com/10101482

Hot Coco says: Thanks for not totally dissing me when I'm riding soft boots , and thanks for encouraging me towards the carving way of life (and for reminding James to surprise me with a Coiler). Hope to see you all next season!
