@jl1: welcome to the club. In Europe I know 4 guys (including me) who managed to kill the Kinpin-nut. Fortunately no-one was really hurt, but all had a shitty crash during riding, when the damn thing broke loose... In my eyes one of the few design failures of these bindings. We made a replacement kit here, were we built a M10 screw with the head formed like the kingpin/nut, and then use a standard nut at the top of the bindings. No issues for years now with that design.
Johno: do you plan to go into serial production later on?
Cheers Max
Do you have any pictures of your replacement/ fix for king pin nut
Never-mind I did not scroll down far enough

In order to utilize the steel heel receiver from Bomber I’d need to create a spacer that provides clearance for the 2 rear canting screws.
ORI create a steel receiver that utilizes the Catek hole pattern and clears the canting screws
OR
I just reproduce the aluminum one.
Thoughts? What is the rub with the Aluminum heel anyway?
fit? I can adjust that
I have steel receivers on my cateks. I am not sure who made them but they appear to be drilled out for more than just cateks. I will post pictures.

That was quick! Let me know if deal falls through

Hey TT-I will certainly give you credit for that!! And something else- last year you said something about if you love snowboarding why not spend whatever it takes to make it more enjoyable in regards to equipment.(something like that) Extremely good advice! I will see you in a few days.

I know a GUY, he's pretty Pissa. Actually more like wicked pissa. Up at the Loaf @Beckmann AG
There's another couple GUYS up there, that could help as well. Not as pissa, but still pissa @Jack M and @trailertrash.
If you like silence on the chairlift, go with TT. If you want some nice convo about the sport and gear go with JM.
If you cant venture up that far, check out Donny Pelletier, well he's good at everything !! He's at the Riva on Sundays.
What Mr. John Deere said-Beckman AG was a huge help in my and my wife's riding over the years!!

I checked a set of OS2 bindings and the thread does go through the entire bore including the ID of the flanged section.
If you zoom in on my picture you can see maybe 1-11/2 threads past the break. The spherical nut sheared right where the taper ends

The kingpin also sheared?
Just the flanged nut sheared
13 hours ago, Corey said:I recall that there are spacers that get inserted if you want more tilt. So the bolt has to be sized to not bottom on the board with no spacers, but have good engagement with 2 spacers. I've only worked with one generation of Catek, not sure if that's common.
One bolt holds you on the board though. It's a BIG bolt. Your leg would probably tear off before that failed in overload.
Catek supplied two different length bolts depending on how many spacers you used. I did have the long bolt in with 2 spacers

->Found a few 'spares' you can borrow for your next jaunt to Outpost 31.
I lost track of how many extra pairs of cateks I have! Bindings are back together and fine. Knowing what happened is the problem........mentaly for me at least

If teach does not take them put me next in line

I got off the lift today and stepped in my rear binding and noticed it was loose. After fiddling with it a few minutes with no success I decided to take it apart to investigate further. After a 1/4 turn loosening the king pin bolt the binding came apart! The spherical king pin nut was sheared off! Thankfully I caught this before I took another run as I am sure it would have let loose on my way down the hill. I strongly suggest you check these nuts for cracks. Also, anyone have any idea where to get these spherical nuts?

Trying to help out a friend. Anybody have a pair of size 12 softboots they want to sell.
Thanks

Glad you got it apart. For stuck/frozen bolts and screws I started using Kano Kroil-way better than PB Blaster. A mechanic at the commercial fishing dock recommended it. I have used it to get bolts out of salt water outboards and nothing is worse than that environment.

My buddy got a new hip a few years ago. He is an avid cyclist and skier. The new hip did not slow him down at all. He is still pedaling a few thousand miles a year and skiing as hard as ever. Last year he did the Vermont ride - north south border to border in one day!

Put me in for the fr2’s. I will take both pair

New Cateks- nice score. I think you may need to see someone about your Catek addiction!! If they were long plates I would have snagged them. How many sets do you have?
