  6. I and others have been riding these powder deck designs for the last two seasons with soft and hardboot set-ups. Very good edge hold on hardpacked and great float in powder. I had one early design at ECES a few years ago but didn't get anyone interested, so i rode with Jeff(Catek)and tested it myself, Jeff rode the 165 cruise deck.....I have been riding this powder shape and it has been tested by a few skier/boarders and they seems to love it. Right now, I am focused on longboard skateboards and a longboard teak surfboard design.....I have all new designs for the snowboards(focused on soft-boot designs)and i am currently talking with a few manufacturers etc.... So who knows ...maybe new SZ 09. 7. The cross-over from one sport to another seems more natural than any other time in history. I feel mountainboarding, kiteboarding, surfing, wakeboarding and skateboarding all help and translate well to all forms of snowboarding. I'm currently riding my 60" longboards with bindings and using kites with the snow decks.... A wider variety of riding possibilities which adds to the most important thing....THE FUN FACTOR. Wayne SZ

  10. Emails and forums seem to get twisted in this whole game.....all i meant was that AD campaigns should get riders, viewers etc to look at your company, the website or the online store. Simple exciting photography and design makes that happen. Donek makes great decks and i like their company, so this collective process between gforce and Donek is amazing, so why not have fun with an ad campaign. As far as Donek, i contacted Sean 2 years ago about design ideas for longboard skate decks and snowboards and we exchanged some emails but he was busy and it never happen. To address the whole lamborghini has many years of history and reputation..YES I AGREE...you seem to miss my point and read too far into this email. "been turned off by the lack of full on topsheet and base shots"...call me. Isn't personal conversations or a direct email a great thing in todays world of lack of customer service? I would have even sent you a free deck to try.... I was invited to ECS two years ago by Jack and Todd and i had 5 designed prototype decks with me...about 3 each of each design and only 4-5 riders tested one of them...Jack didn't even want to ride.... My point is that this small group and 1 1/2 percent of alpine needs to support anything new or at least take some time to email or call and get involved...I had over $5000.00 dollars worth of deck to hand out and my support ended up coming from the freestyle riders and the freeride guys months later.... As far as sales i did okay, but i only did limited run due to all the different designs i was testing. Fin knows some of my story on development....we shared some emails also. Where is SZ now? We have develop a series of longboard skateboards which are eco-friendly and geared towards body proportion and carving. We are designing a new main SZ website and taking the five snowboard designs and focusing on a soft-boot carving all-mountain ride deck system...core development is 90% natural composite materials and geared for the cross over rider which are the riders who are working with us and loving the whole soft-boot thing....which i feel only helps build the alpine market. As Jeff Harbaugh states"The question is not how small brands can stay cool. It’s how they can stay in this market at all. Building a quality product ,pricing it right, delivering it right, customer service , and supporting it with appropriate promotional programs gets you nothing more than the right to try". My cell phone and email work and if anyone wants to call or join in i'm right here....and everyone who has been a part of this process has been paid. Thanks for your comments and as always enjoy the ride. 13. As far as Carver skate trucks, i think those guys are doing a great job... and I can relate to all their years of prototyping. At least Carver, Original and Revenge longboard trucks are pushing the market into looking at new ideas about skateboard truck design....then there's Kitedeck revolution trucks for kiting (pieces of art). My meaning to the above email was that being Laird is so tall and Kelly so quick in surf style that a DECK length should relate more to their body proportion, relating more to surfing. I don't consider 38"-42" skate decks longboards. I contacted the Carver guys about 2 years ago and I thought a larger wheel to wheel width would be a great design....think about mixing an Original S10/250s with a Carver combination on a 72" deck...would be wild. Anyway, I meant know disrespect to Arbor or Carver. It's all about marketing anyway..... I think surfing and skateboarding has been over-commercialized for a long time. It seems odd that surfers/skaters like to think of themselves as rebelious. It seems obvious that it is all becoming a very conformist culture. I think that LONGBOARDING IS THE LAST TRUE INDEPENDENT frontier of skating...more independent builders and individuals doing their own thing...riding the street and getting back to real garage operations. 20 years ago skating was all about hanging out, cutting wood and just riding... Kelly and Laird don't need the cash...so Laird should be endorsing a true independent brand like Surf-Rodz....72" Pro-Teak deck would look good under his feet.lol SZ will remain a small company mixing up construction, art and design projects to maintain it's operation...it's an open door shop and anyone is welcome to work with us. Just wanted to set the record straight.... Wayne SZ
  14. I want to ask you one question...how could Laird Hamilton and Kelly Slater endorse longboard skateboards that do not match their talent? http://www.carverskateboards.com/product/skateboards/detail.php?id=11 http://www.naphte.com/portal/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=121&Itemid=34 I don't get it.... 15. The Original truck system is one of the best if not the best skate truck out in the market place...with Spring Resistance you have more control over your longboard trucks adjustments which means more control over your turns. As far as tooooo turny for my taste or wobble, just tighten them up boys and maybe get some red or white springs. Original will be setting the pace in the next few years and they will be doing a lot of innovation...... The NEW SZ 60" and 72" longboards carve any hill with the S10s....call or email me. 16. Surf-Rodz will be at this event and will be showcasing all it's product development...snowboards to longboards and the ASB road/kite system. ------------- Surf-Rodz will showcase its new custom machine pressed 15/17 ply Russian /Finland Baltic Birch 60” long-board decks. These high- pressure wood-ply decks offer wood veneer top sheets and a high pressure laminate composite bottom sheet. The SZ 60” longboards use a eco-natural engineered ply-lam system that adds deck strength and flex which improves deck performance while adding a wide range of custom features to fit the riders needs. Our ¾” Bamboo cross core custom decks uses some of the same eco-natural engineered ply-lam system as our Baltic birch decks do. We incorporate an extra bottom ply-lam composite to the bamboo to add more strength and to stabilize the flex and weight of this material for the user of the 60” deck. The Surf-Rodz NEW 60" "FREERIDE" deck is a form of longboarding that involves relaxed or agressive carving, ‘walking’, manuals and cross-stepping and balanced wheelie tricks. The Freeride is very much a cross between street skating and tricks imported from classic longboard surfing. The FREERIDE system is a well balanced design to give you a lot of riding options. This board is pure fun. A comfortable 60” long length means this board is a jack-of-all-trades. Carving down a hill, whizzing through rush hour traffic or throwing down some power slides. ------ SZ has been in development for the last 2 years on snow, road and water deck systems and is just getting all of it's manufacturing in place so this Ct event is a perfect place to showcase it's products. SZ will also donate a new 170 carve snowboard deck to this event. Please feel free to contact me direct for more information and prices as we have moved into limited manufacturing on all our products. SZ will also be in a few retail shops by Jan08. All of our new product pictures and pricing info will be up soon....it's been a long road but it's been fun. 17. DR D, As far as road carving, most skateboard longboard products are inferior due to the fact that they don't think about body proportion and their truck systems use 8mm axles and should be using 12mm. The trucks should also be in proportion with deck length. If you think about it, most skateboard development is still way behind vs snowboards and surfboard design. Surfboard development is now pushing far ahead of it all.... take a look at road carving.....i'm working on it.lol stay safe and as aways enjoy the ride. 18. Here’s a little more info…. SZ is just about finished with testing and development on the ASB system and I will showcase more video of carving and kiting this summer. As far as pumping on the flats, the ASB system is used more as a cross-trainer than a longboard. The New 60” SZ longboards will be the alternative to this system. Product preview_ http://web.mac.com/surfrodz/iWeb/Site/SZ%20VIEW%20.html I designed this ASB system for a change from a standard one size fits all length to a system that adapts to body proportion, flex and weight. The versatility of integrating bindings or a skate DECK can be the primary source for many applications with this system. The ASB is also being applied to kiting (skimbats/kitewings) on road, beaches, dirt and grass (http://www.kitewing.com). As far as being locked in with a binding…mountainboarding and kiteboarding use straps/bindings, so once you get over your mind-set of being strapped in, and as long as you know how to power slide or slide a skateboard, everything becomes a series of pure body motion. The ASB system is also being tested with flat style decks and simple straps like the ones used in kiting. ---- As far as soft-boot bindings on a narrow SNOW deck, I currently ride the ASB bar system and SZ snow decks the same way…with a CATEK soft-boot binding with 70 degrees front and back stance, almost slalom water skiing on snow and pavement. The SZ snow decks work in powder and hardpack conditions and adapt to plate bindings because of the shape and design. I found that a lot of freeriders and younger freestylers are more in tune to try it and seemed to like it…hey, it all helps the carving market…hope to be out at most events next season as I finally get SZ on track. If anyone is interested in more pictures or information please contact SZ directly and I will keep you up to date. Thanks, Wayne wayne@surf-rodz.com
