  1. I have been riding swoard 175 and i love it, i believe it has almost exact the same shape as Blade. It was good at the beginning but it took me a half of season to really work out full potential of EC on that board. Wider boards are definitely step in right direction

All said above is very true; however there is one thing that is still puzzling me: Wider board (swoard 175 soft flex) is performing worst on ice (I am talking east cost ice) then rhenn tiger 163 SL (last year model)<O:p</O:p

My guess is a stiffness, SCR and size. Any thoughts or similar experience? <O:p</O:p

  2. To Zraced

Of course i remember you it was fun day but a little too springish for my.

How are you? Where do you carve this days?

    To Gleb

If you are intermedie carver, is good to practice on blues but it is extremly important to start a day with the stepest groomed trail you can find. (8 pm or whenever they open, make sure you are in first chair up) This way you could improve your technique fast. While carving steep corderouy make sure you dont skid even inch, that would be counterproductive.

    To All

I was a little to harsh for okimo and other flat mountains, diffrent people banefit from diffrent grade. Just becouse i like steeps only it doesn't mean that okimo sucks

  3. Yeah MT "slow" (sorry for that) was a lot of fun when we had so many great carvers on one slopes. Conditions where superior and snow was white :) glorius day.

Happy b_day Ron (The carvefather) he was the reason for the little "carve fest"

Bobby can you try to send my email thru bomber i could use this software.

  4. Here is my 50 cents

    Advantages of going wide:

1 Better EC i am not sure exaclywhy but that swoard think works

2 bigger feet and more comfortable position

3 less likely to be bother on the slope by others. (looks like more common snowboard)

4 Jumping (this one is big) it just feels beter on wider board

    Disadvantges

    1 Ice

  5. Thanks

177 ia too big for forest

also i am looking for riding it with plates not softies

I think i also met this guy in the store in killington he was saying he could ride softies as well as hardboots (i still dont think it is posible, definitly not on ice)

There is somthing weird about this picture i am wondering if it was link turn or just one kind of laydown

  6. All flames (unless made of wood), gosts and demos are kind of cheesy. I like dice, martini or the last one. They have more city vibe. Tribal and psyhodelic are just too annoyng and you will be sick of it soon.

It is very personal but sice you ask for opinion.

  7. They groom outher limits one of my favorite steep trails.

Grooming OUTER Limits is really pissing off alot the real bump skiers. Watching people fall and then slide in terror on the steeper/no fall zones is fun to watch tho.

WTF even if they groom it it is only half (3 or 4 groomers passes)

and right next to it there is devils fiddle anther bumpy ride. How many bumpy trails do we need !!!!!!! That is a thing i hate about US skiing all steep terrains is not groomed to make more difficult and being able to call it double dimonts

Outher Limits was awsome last sun morning.

K put up a terrain park on Bear Claw, an otherwise great fast GS carving Trail (Will Garrow footage not available at this time, sorry). No one really seems to use the park either. Pity

This trail is ok there is Wild fire right next to it wide open and groomed not steep enoug for me

K is such a Disneyland ski area for yappy new yorkizz. it's a shame :AR15firin

Carving at K when it's a zoo is like trying to ride a skateboard through a mall on

    the day after thanksgiving

Well i am yappy new yorkizz

Crowdwise It is not so bad i carve it every weekend you got 2 to 3 hours of in the morning and then you might have to wait for the gap in the penguins

Anyone from boston hates this mountain becouse of NYC crowds i find it a little funny most are from upstate NY and CT

Pico, Okemo, Magic.....oi vay !

again too flat and too many children

Big K is only one steep mountain within 4 hours driving from Brooklyn

    Not much choice for me.

  8. Where in Brooklyn are you at PRZEMEK? Where do you ride? I'm in Bushwick off Flushing stop J/M/Z Train. I mainly go upstate to ride, but just curious on your experience of the local mtns.

    I live in Clinton Hill

I go to Vermont to Killington, catskilss are ok but too crovded on the weekend and they dont have good steeps for carving (i am steep obsesed carver)

In catskills i would rader go to Windham then to Hunter to avoid crowds

  9. Thanks for very costructive feedback...

i usually ride tight forest (kilington) and sometime really stupidly dense froest

(one that you have to fight your way thru)

But i am not sure next seson i might go somwhere else

I use 150 freestyle board that i feel is a littlle to small in deep powder.

I figure 170 is my top limit.

I have few options just need to decide what i want. Thanks again

  10. HI

I am not quite sure abut this weekend.... but if i go i would go to K not Pico,

better trail selection more steep stuff. (accualy never been to Pico)

Why would you go to Pico insted of K?

  11. thanks for all commnt they are very helpfull

Prior 4WD and Donek axxess are more carve then i need (i have already wide carving board) i am thinking somthing like 24 wide.

I am trying to decide between steepwater plow 171 and Dynastar (Osin) 3800 169 or 163.

Is there a website for Steepwater snowbards ?

  12. Hi

I am just tired of changing hard to soft boots back and forward so I am looking for all mountain board for hard boots.

Something I could use for powder, forest, bumps and a limited carving.<O:p</O:p

I guess I need something wide, stiff in the middle but with more flexible front and tail.Of course Lifted and rounded tail is a must

To make this more difficult I don’t want to spend more then 250$ (it can be used of course)<O:p</O:p

First part of the question is about model but I am not sure about size also.<O:p</O:p

    I am around 5’ 8 and 165 lbs average foot size.<O:p</O:p

I need something good for powder but also I want to be able to fit between trees in dense forest and do bumps.<O:p</O:p

Limited carving is important for me too I know that this board will not be good on ice but I would like it to achieve 70% of performance of my carving boards.<O:p</O:p

I know it is a lot to ask for but maybe someone can help me to choose right deck.<O:p</O:p

    <O:p

    Thanks a lot. <O:p</O:p

  13. Okimo plainly suck. i never go there becouse is filed with kids and obviously flat, pluse you have to take bus from parking lot to get to the lift.

If you want to go to south vermont there are only two resorts that are somewhat ok: Stratton and Killington (avoid mount snow aka mount slow as well becouse it is even flater and more children fill then okimo, except two slow lifts on the backside)

Stratton is ok it has nice consistent medium steep terain, very good grooming but nothing is very steep.

Kilington is quite good we had real blast this past weekend

Kilington got over a foot of snow friday so sat wes mostly freeride in the forest, but sunday carving was just perfect no ice just hard pack.

They groom outher limits one of my favorite steep trails.

Also K was not too crowded.

A lot of carvers dont like big K but IMHO is the best carving mountain in South VT.

  14. if you looking for sun and groom it must be Italy.

Wide open trails that will stay in good condition all day,

perfect grooming (i dont know haw they do this but it is beter then on anywhare in east coast, somehow you dont see stiches between groomers lines)

People in Italy dont go ski before 11. Two and half hours you have slopes for yourself. They stay avay from steeps as well and will not go on powder snow.

    perfect

Weather is usual great on this side of alps feburary is sunny but no fresh snow, all weather system get stuck on the other side of mountains.

Mountains are just gorges and more spectacular then anything i have seen in US

Great food and drinks right on the slope (they dont have that funny american attitude towards alcohol) You can have shot of grappa or bombalino without taking your board off.

Food food food (sorry guys food in american resorts does not even suck is worst then that)

Cost of lift is around 33 euro a day

All lifts are fast chairs with leg support, comfy seats and plastic shild when you cold

quality of everything, last time when my front binding broke handsom carabinieri(equiwalent of ski patrol) on his snowmobile gave me a ride home. (for free of course) aha make sure you have the leash it is mandatory in italy

  15. hi

i use to go to laxx and it was always great especialy for freeride so much of open terrain. Carving is good but steeps are kind of spread in diffrent palaces in a big area. It is one of the best places for freeride snowboard.

If you go to Italy and like steeps and want to avoid big crowds you want to go to Araba / Marmolada area the best carving great steeps

stay clear from sella ronda and val gardena too crowded

  16. OK i am riding K mart almost all weekends

will be there this sat and sun.

    here is what i do

first of all Ramshed is way to flat (caling it blue trail is a streach).

and it is full of beginers often out of control. Dont waste your time there.

I usualy start from K1 gondola (try to get there as early as posible and park close to K1) you could do few great runs from there and it will not be crowded until 10 (weekends)

    - rime (under trible chair) to east fall (more mellow)

    - cascade one of the best runs in K

    - downdraft narow but nice especialy early (not always groomed)

Then you could do two icier trails (there were more icy and wind blown 2 weeks ago)

    - Double dipper next to canion lift

    - Superstar (great wide run always groomed, fast chair, two steeps part and mellow middle part) it was icy last time, and becouse of that it will not get to bumpy even in the end of the day.

These runs are great late of the day

    bear mountain

    - Outher limits by far one of the best steep run in east cost, not always groomed (weird American obsession with bumps how unfortune) good chances it will not be groomed on weekdays

    - wildfire nice melow run usualy groomed.

    Have fun
