  1. Well, it's mid-November and I already was out this weekend... once again without my favorite Burton board. =( =(
  2. I made a note in my calendar to check up on 3-hole discs for the TD2s this summer.... last I understood they should have been available sometime this summer. Any ETA on them yet? They still say out of stock when I go to order a 2nd board kit. I definitely want to get my TD2s onto my Factory Prime this season...!
  3. Jon - couldn't find yer email, but I just shipped the boots USPS priority. You should see them in a few days. thanks
  4. I played a lot of BF1942, and DC, but it's kind of fallen by the wayside. BV didn't look like it was enough of an improvement to buy (after ponying up for Road to Rome and Secret Weapons already). Pretty good, tho? My favorite game (totally different genre) is Massive Assault - www.massiveassault.com. It's turn-based strategy with RTS-style graphics. Download the demo - it's awesome. Impossible to find in US stores (some problem with the distributor), so you gotta pretty much buy it direct from them.
  5. I (along with at least 2 members of our snowboard team) played CS for years. I think it was around 2000-2001 mostly, but I ran a server (Dr Him's Laboratory) for years. Great game. Can't get the Steam version to work, so I've not played it in forever.
  6. Got to make things difficult for me, huh? Email me again (john at johnstewart dot com) and I'll send you the address, etc, to send me a money order. Also, I agree paypal sucks, but you don't technically have to use a credit card; you can withdraw from your bank account into your paypal account. A money order should be fine.
  7. You have to use the website. I accept only paypal, not money orders. Shipping is $16, I think...
  8. To order the boots, go here: http://johnstewart.com/boots/ I've got one of each - 26, 27, and 29. Sounds like Jon wants the 27's. Note that the 26 and 27 both have been demoed on the hill by potential buyers; they are in like-new conditition, however.
  9. Hard to say, and I am FAR from an expert on this - I only have been hardbooting for a season myself, and am no professional when it comes to selling footwear. =) In my personal experience, I would say that a little bigger is better than too small. If it's too small, your toes could be cramped and curled in the front of the boot. If it's too big, it's not as big a deal because it seem to me that the control comes not from the toes (as with softboots), but more from the boot clamping around your ankle. I think you should definitely see what others think, though...
  10. Ya, I'm not sure. I personally used my softboot liners for a couple of weeks after I got mine (size 30's), but then I found some Thermoforms locally that were size 31's. They fit fine. Definitely I think Thermoforms are the way to do. If you're interested, act quickly. I'm just about done with the boot business. I only have one pair each of sizes: 26 27 29 Also, FYI, the 26 and 27 I've got left have both been lightly used - they were both used by folks thinking of buying them, so they've been down the hill a couple of times. There is nothing wrong with them, I just wanted you to be aware.
  11. Current stock; almost gone!! 1x22's 1x26's 2x27's 1x29's
  12. I've got 2 pair left (no liners) for $35: http://johnstewart.com/boots/
  13. So snowboarders/telemarkers/handicapped all ski against each other? Yes, that is crap. I wanted to go this year (this is the first year I qualified - My Results), but just no vacation time and money. I didn't realize that I'd be going against anyone but boarders; that's pretty stupid. I think the qualification for boarders ought to be the same as for skiiers (i.e. average your 2nd-4th place results). As it is now, you can get a freaky good result (like me), and not really be THAT good. I know my buddy who taught me (here) is a far better racer than I am, but I kicked his ass in ranking because I happenned to go to a few places where the pacesetter sucked (apparently) compared to his handicap.
  14. Update: I did get a 26 returned to me from someone who was thinking of buying them. So the stock is: 1x22 1x26 3x27 1x29 1x29/28.5
  15. Hah! I've hurt myself pretty good a couple of times on my new Volant Excel. The thing is obviously able to hold a line well, but if you get off-balance, all of that sprung weight has to go someplace. =) Two Sundays ago a broke a bone in my wrist in the race course (not really the fault of the board, of course). I was a bit off-balance coming around a gate and hit it with my hand, low to the ground. Then last Sunday I had the worst snowboard crash of my life on that thing. I was tired and sloppy, and shouldn't have been racing (and had fallen a few times already). I hit some bumps, got off balance, and basically got my weight onto the wrong side of the board. I think my weight was too far forward, so it was like I was compressing a diving board. Then I caught the nose somehow and BOING I just saw the world doing loops around me. I got flipped around and my rear hip slammed into the snow. No blood, no broken bones, but holy **** my hip has been hurting. I felt like a wuss because while there was a lump, there was NO bruising.... until TODAY. It took six days for the blood to make it to the surface and bruise. That was a deep one. Anyway, I still love that board, even if it does scare the bejesus out of me. I can tell during the brief time when I do keep it in the course that it is by far the fastest board I've ever ridden (part of the problem, actually... the consequenses of screwing up keep rising). I'm planning on heading back out for the first time since the crash tomorrow... 7 days off is the longest I've gone without boarding this season... Good luck. =)
  16. The quantities listed are current as of today: http://johnstewart.com/boots/ Right now, 4 27's left, plus a 22 (who has feet this small?), a 29, and the screwy pair. I'd sell the screwy pair for $25+shipping.
  17. So it turns out that one of the pairs of boots I have are not a matched set. The left one is a 29 and the right one is a 28.5. Anyone here got a shorter right foot? =) If anyone is interested in this screwy pair, drop me a line and I'm willing to drop the price. Otherwise they'll probably get used for parts (you can hack these boots by replacing the velcro strap at the top with a buckle removed from a donor boot). http://johnstewart.com/boots/
  18. I doubt it; these holes are way wider than any bindings or cant plates I've ever seen. Looks like I just plain got screwed. I emailed the guy, but unless he give the money back I'll be filing a complaint. I mean, if the pics don't show it, and he doesn't mention it, then a board of this type would be "significantly misrepresented", I think.
  19. So I was helping my sister get into snoboarding and we picked her up a cheap board: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3659590304 The topsheet says "Revert 55 ee116 wide" 155cm, and I've no idea what year it is. I just got the thing today and the hole pattern for the bindings are totally screwy. Can't find the cable for my digital camera right now, so I'll try and describe it: On both the front and rear bindings, there is a single hole in the middle, with holes radially around it. On the front ones, there are 7 total holes, and 9 total holes in the back. This is like nothing I've seen in my (limited) experience. Anyone know what kind of bindings would possibly fit? I already got her some K2 clickers, so I'm afraid we may be SOL.
  20. A local store, Erehwon, was selling them for $25. I heard (through bomber, actually) that the manager was talking about getting rid of them all, so I went in and made a deal with him to buy the rest of them. What he told me was that they had these boots and weren't selling many, so someone out in Alaska offered to buy all of the liners (Thermoforms)... he was some bootfitter up there. So Erehwon had all of these shells with no liners, and not much hope of selling them. I had 40+ pair of them crammed into my Cherokee. Literally the only place in the car not filled with boots was the windshield right in front of me. I sold them for $25 for a while, but when the orders started to peter out, jacked it up to $35 'cuz it is a real pain in the arse to pack them up and get to the post office from work. So the stock is dwindling (been quite a spurt recently for some reason). The only place I ever advertised them was here, too. When they're gone, I'm out of the boot business.... though it looks like I'm outlasting Erehwon - the whole chain is going out of business right now.
  21. Well, how tight should these suckers be? Is there a torque spec someplace for them, or are you essentially saying I *can't* strip them out with the L wrench? I especially worry about stripping out the inserts on the board...
