  1. Size 27 Intuition liners, black, with the wrap around design and in great shape. They've been molded twice now. I'd like to get $60 for them.
  2. That's really interesting to me. My second toe is longer than my big toe (100% Hungarian by the way) and I've always found myself hunting for boots with a wide and tall toebox. It just always felt a lot more comfortable that way. At least, now I know why!
  3. I'll skip my standard "Why Supersports are bad first bikes" rant. If you can't afford the gear, you can't afford the bike; especially if you're just starting out. That said, go to http://www.newenough.com to find great closeouts on gear. Again, make sure to take the MSF course. What you learn there could very easily end up saving your life.
  4. At a minimum buy some leather motorcycle gloves. Those paintball gloves will do virtually nothing in a slide. Besides the gloves you should also buy a jacket and pants. You should also have full gear for your passenger.
  5. I think Dan might just be having some problems with his connection. Just wait a while and you should be able to get ahold of him again. As far as shape and sizing goes, check out my post for a couple weeks back. I compared my new UPZ boots to my Raichles in regards to size and shape. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=11164 EDIT: I sent Dan an email and it hasn't bounced back.
  6. Have you considered just coring the cans and removing the cat? My friend cored the cans on his 620 and it's the second sickest sounding bike I've ever heard.
  7. The best rates I've seen came from Diaryland Insurance. I've also heard that they're pretty good to deal with. That said, I have Progressive and I'm happy with the rates I have.
  8. Look, what Jack and I are both trying to say is: don't buy a Harley.
  9. Basically the article says that a softer helmet will produce fewer head injuries under a certain impact threshold. It then says that since most impacts encountered in street accidents are below that. The Snell certified helmets tend to be stiffer, and so will produce more injury in most street accidents, however, the limit at which a fatal injury will occure is higher with a Snell helmet. Snell isn't obsolete, but it might be something to consider. Bottom line, buy a full face helmet that fits, and wear it all the time. Don't forget to buy gloves, boots, a jacket, and pants as well. Aside from the head the easiest places to have a debilitating injury on the hands and feet, in that order. Also, if you haven't yet, take the MSF course.
  10. No, no, no, it was a LeMans on one foot and the UPZ on the other, that moves it from obsession to comparative product evaluation. Weight: I just weighed both on my electronic scale, and it said they both weigh the same at 9.5 pounds per pair. My feet agree. Toe piece: The problem isn't that it's detachable; it's that it's not T-nutted in place. Right now it uses huge screws that thread directly into the sole. Looking at it I don't think it stripping out to too much of a concern, but I'll put t-nuts in it anyway. Easy fix. Stiffness: I think the shell is made more a slightly stiffer material than the LeMans, but the biggest difference is the UPZ has a hella stiff, assymetrical tongue on it. I'm honestly considering removing the springs completely and just letting the tongue provide resistance. I'm also thinking about slotting the top of the tongue like on the LeMans.
  11. I've spent 6 hours this past weekend walking around the house with a LeMans on one foot and a UPZ on the other. I've also compared the shape and sizing of the foot from one to other. - A 27 UPZ has a heel width of roughly a 26 Deeluxe. - The UPZ has a toe box that's a little wider than the same sized Deeluxe. - The UPZ is shorter than the same sized Deeluxe by roughly half a size. - The UPZ's upper portion is a lot lower volume than a Deeluxe's. - The UPZ's buckles are so nice. They make me feel good...you know...down there. - It's true, the UPZ's liner sucks. I put my size 26 Thermoflex liners in the size 27 UPZs and barely got them in there. I think you might need to down size your liners, but I'm looking into that more. - They have a tenacious grip and can be fairly difficult to get in and out of. - Finally, my feet are 27.5 and 28 and I was forced to downsize my LeMans to find a good fit, but I fit beautifully in the size 27 UPZ. EDIT: - I also wanted to add that the cuff heights are the same.
  12. I really liked the Canyons. It has a lot of terrain, and with a little work it's easy to get away from the crowds. It also has some of the best glades I have ever ridden. I think a really good trail to learn on would be Alpinglow, all the way over on the left. You have to go through three lifts to get to it. It has a good slope, wide, is never crowded, and the very bottom is a series of roller coaster cat tracks. I didn't really like the Park City resort at all. It honestly seemed kinda boring to me, and was quit crowded. However, I do give it props for having a trail named "Glory Hole".
  13. I've always heard that it was really hard to make something that was too big fit properly, as opposed to making something too small fit right.
  14. I like my LeMans well enough, but they could definitely fit me better. Does anyone know which hardboots have a narrow heel but a large toe box?
  15. I like to purchase my equipment for the next season during the summer; that said, I'd like to buy a new snowboard for next season. Ideally I'd like to get a skinny waisted race board, but unfortunately I live in Maryland on the East Coast, so the hills tend to be short and crowded, and the snow tends to be hard and choppy, so I'm not sure I'd get too much use out of a board like that. Right now I'm riding an Incline 160, and I'd definitely like something with more edge on it, I'm also thinking possibly less taper? I'm currently running about angles around 40-45 degrees front and back, and I'd definitely like something with higher angles that will have me facing more forward. I don't think angles around 45 are good for how I tend to bend. Finally, I'm 6' and weigh 150 pounds dry, and about 160-165 with gear.
  16. I'm having a lot of issues with the outside of the ball of my foot cramping up. It can get really bad. If I try and ride with the boots locked instead of powder mode it get's much worse and is virtually guaranteed to cramp up on me. I'd rather not go to my bootfitter with this, because, honestly, I don't trust them. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do to fix this?
  17. I found this board for $120 plus shipping. It's geometry looks like about what I've been looking for, but I've never heard of them, and didn't turn up anything on the forums or in the Almanac. Can anyone tell me anything about it? It's a 166 with an 18.8cm waist.
  18. I found a Level X board for sale. Has anyone heard of them? I've looked around and couldn't find any information on them. It's used and is on sale for $120. Length : 166 cm Effective Edge : 152 cm Waist width : 18.8 cm Nose width : 23.8 cm Tail Width : 23.8 cm
  19. I'm having a really hard time getting my boot centered side to side on the board. First, I'm not really sure where on the back on the boot I should be measuring to, since the parts that stick out the farthest are also fairly high up on the boot itself. Second, I'm having a very hard time getting the boot moved toward the front edge enough. I have the bails shifting all the way forward and am still having problems. Should I maybe just position the center mark on the boot over the center of the binding and not worry about balancing it front to back?
  20. Can anyone recommend a good place to have custom footbeds made in the MD, DC, VA area?
  21. If I gave you FTP access to my server, could you upload for me?
  22. Is riding at RoundTop this summer a go? I'll be up there this Saturday. Roundtop is the last good snow within 2 hours...
  23. I'd really like to find a video of the Olypmic men's snowboardcross final to stash away in my archive. Can anyone help me out?
  24. A friend and a girlfriend went through this. These are the things I learned which people had neglected to tell them: 1. After the surgery you need to take the wrapping off your knee to ice it. If you don't the ice won't cool it enough and you'll having swelling issues for a long time. 2. After surgery take your pain medications on schedule even if you don't feel like you need them. If your pain meds wear off, it'll take about 30 minutes after popping more pills for them to take affect. 3. Continue doing your PT after your last visit. If you don't, your knee will never be as good as it used to be and will fatigue easily and will be much more susceptible to re-injury.
