Generics IQ 170 - review

This one has not been covered much on BOL, so here we go...

Got it used but in decent shape from a buddy. I love it - I think it's a keeper.

Specs:

L = 170

C = 153

W = 19.7

SCR (calc) = 12.2

No taper

No offset

When flexed by hand it feels a bit stiffer than my Cocoon, but it definitely rides softer ?!?

Maybe not to stiff torsionally, but still very hooky (nose and tail). Probably due to no taper and to my tune up (90/0 edges, no detuning). Damper than Cocoon, too.

Holds edge very well, but I didn't have chance to try it on ice yet. Powers thru chop and small soft bumps, and it can be really laid over on good snow. Manageable in smaller bumps and can ride a bit of fresh (but don't press the nose). It offers very locked-in feeling and can be a bit tricky to release, especially if you get carried away with railing it to more than perpendicular to fall line. Can handle speed, shorter and longer turns, but it needs a bit of speed to start carving. You can not get too lazy on in, but not too demanding either...

Verdict: Very good board. I thing it was designed as a race board, but it has good all-round performance, almost what you would expect from an all-mountain board + long contact edge.

Will ride it at WES this Saturday!
