Guest Cabrina
Hey there, I would really like to start learning the sport, need some help with ideal equipment for me. My fiance has an old Burton board for me but I think it is 163, he says it is fine (probably cause he doesn't want me to buy anything)... is that too long? I am girl who is 5'7" and 120lbs. What do I need to get started? :) Thanks!
Jack M
Check out our Welcome Center for some info. That board may be a bit much if it is a Burton Factory Prime. If it's an Alp, give it a try, but I'd recommend starting on an all-mountain carver like the Donek Axis, Prior 4WD, or Burton Coil (aka Wire, aka E-deck). Guest Cabrina
It is a Prime.... What length would be best?
nekdut
Factory or Ultra Prime? If its an Ultra Prime, 162-163cm might be alright for your size as they are fairly soft boards. FPs are considerably stiffer though, and will be a challenge for a new carver.
Guest NEngineer
Alright, Correct me if I'm wrong but you don't need an alpine board to start carving. if you have the right boots and bindings, even a decent freeride board should suffice. In fact, it might even make the transition a little more painless. Your boots are the most important, then come bindings and then a board. Just the opinion of a skidder...
