Corey
If you want to EC, the EC-style board will be better. I've been trying for a few years (half-heartedly) to EC on a various boards. Then I hopped on a Coiler EX and I instantly 'got better' at it! The proper equipment helps. EC boards are generally wider, have a bigger sidecut radius, and have less change in sidecut radius along their length than freecarve boards. Similarly, if you were more interested in freecarving without body dragging, I'd suggest the SG board.
kipstar
I have the sg180 in titanal same profile as the full carve. I would echo what Corey says; it probably CAN EC but it may not be as well suited for it as riding more traditionally; the board should rip well for u it is pretty comfortable letting the edge engage and disengage quite easily and can crank medium radius through to long radius turns, with a desire to go fairly quickly. It is only 202mm in the waist so that might also influence u as with a 27.5 mondopoint rear foot I am riding as flat as I can still is 52/53 degrees approx. For EC the dudes I saw in Tahoe liked relatively low angles.
