Generally, DC folks tend to head to Whitetail Resort (& Liberty & Roundtop being other local options) for day trips (http://www.skiwhitetail.com/winter), or Wisp Resort (http://www.wispresort.com/) if you're willing to drive a bit further into western Maryland, and I think there are other options in VA, WV & PA that I am not familiar with. Keep in mind, our seasons here are short, and weekends get very crowded by mid morning. Be sure to check out the VA/MD ride board closer to the season. We tend to bump into each other at Whitetail on midweek days or first thing on weekend mornings.
