bumpyride
Headed out to Salt Lake in late Feb. or early march, and was looking for info on reasonable Hotel/Motels on the East side of Salt Lake. Looking for easy access to all the resorts. Also anybody know where to pick up "Local Tickets". Grocery Stores or Sporting Goods shops, etc.
Pat Donnelly
Check out Homewood Suites in Midvale. Get to Snowbasin on a bluebird day and head to the Strawberry side. http://www.saltlakecityinfo.org/ http://www.skiutah.com/ http://www.rideutah.com/ Tickets??? You might contact http://www.saltypeaks.com/ Or that place near the entrance to Big Cottonwood canyon, near Porcupines bar/restaurant (good spot to eat/drink) - I think it was called The Lift House? garyj
Smith's Food King used to sell discount tickets to some of the resorts (Snowbird and Alta for sure). This was sometime ago, but I have heard that they still offer this service. You can probably inquire online or over the phone. The discounts were pretty good too! Guest Digger
Tickets - Smiths food stores has many locations on the East side of town and discount tickets for Alta(no boarding) and Snowbird. Not sure but I think it does Solitude and Brighton also. A good lodging deal is at Extended Stay America. Suites and 1 bedrooms that both have basic cooking facilities and cookware. Rooms are about $250 -$270 a week. Location is good as long as you have a car and shoppping for food and movies close by. Try them at 801-567-0404 for current rates. They are located at 7555 Union Park Ave, Midvale Ut 84047. Try using Mapquest for directions. Good Luck.
Skully
Canyon Sports REI Ski Connection Breeze/MAX Used to have them, I'm not sure if they do anymore. There are probably others, but the above mentioned are fairly accessible to downtown and the east side of SLC.

Pat Donnelly
Jan. 11, 2005 (KSL/AP)-- Utah mountains are getting hit hard with snow, forcing Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons to close down for the night. A popular ski resort also shut down for the day. Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed at 4:00 and Big Cottonwood Canyon will close at 6:00 Tuesday evening. All those currently in the canyon will have to spend the night there. Alta ski resort closed today because of avalanche danger. The resort has received snow every day for the past two weeks, totaling more than nine feet. Resort officials say it's rare they're forced to shut down because of too much snow. Meanwhile, seven inches is being reported at Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon. So far this season, Utah resorts have received as much as 34 feet of snow.
