two_ravens
Only the first run earns us points of course, but we decide to stay and tear the place up a little bit anyway. :D Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
two_ravens decides to make an ego claim, but the innocent bystander seems utterly unimpressed. Hmmmph. Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
C.N.A.R. contestants keep themselves busy on Snow King’s famously scenic-speed chair lifts by filling out score cards.

Weather Bear says “Brrrrrr!!!” which means the cnarly SkES participants get to earn points immediately with a below zero start! The happy carvers express their approval. :p:biggthump And we're off to hill...... Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens

two_ravens
OK, we know we’re losing points - but we just couldn’t help it!!! Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
Since it’s a bit chilly, the SkESers decide to warm up and earn points at the same time with a little hike up Snow King. Good thing those boots only weigh 5 lbs each! Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
Hmmm..... not quite sure that was worth 800 points....... Wow, the snow is a little wind blown and skinny up here. No new base gouges, please! The ever enthusiastic SkES crew lets out a Radness Yell - for no points of course because this isn’t a groomed run, but just because we are just feeling so very rad! :D Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
Yeah, looks like they haven’t groomed the trees on this run even once this season. Well, at least it’s worth points..... Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
two_ravens
The carving crew goes in search of groom and finds Turnpike in good shape, with the morning fog finally burning off. We do our Radness Yells like we mean it, and are ready to tear up some ‘roy! Pausing for a moment at the midpoint of Turnpike to contemplate Truth and Beauty: breathtakingly perfect groom..... leading straight to the cemetery...... two_ravens
We leave our mark on the buzzy groom, then two_ravens approaches a likely looking stranger and tells her most sincerely, “I believe in pole whacking. I really do.” However, the perfect stranger seems to have a less than perfect appreciation of the importance of pole whacking....

two_ravens
Well, there are not many points to be earned in a Carver’s Radness contest on a powder day, but by happy chance all this year’s SkES participants brought with them their most hideous onesies. The crew gathers to show off their powder day attire. And then off to the hill..... Edited February 7, 2012 by two_ravens
kieran
the lower half of that suit is nowhere near indecent enough to alert the 'fashion' police. will you have a video camera on when you switch your stance?
two_ravens
Crazy how a powder day, of all things, brings out the crowds?!?!?!? It’s 5 minutes before the lift opens and look at all the people! Don’t know how we’re going to deal with the teeming hoards..... :( Somewhere down there are some tracks we made. OK, we had to do a Radness Yell, even if there are no points for it, because we’re just so doggone rad! :D:ices_ange
two_ravens
Taking a little break on the edge of the run, we hear some rustling among the trees... Oh, look! It’s a little forest gnome! Oh, wait - there are three of them! Holy smokes, we’ve never seen gnomes on this mountain before! Clearly these are the gnomes of Squaw Valley’s Enchanted Forest!!! We have to wonder if they migrated north because snow conditions are so bad at Squaw, or are they just tired of being molested by the G.N.A.R. boys down there? Those guys are pretty rough on gnomes....
two_ravens
Let’s see if we can get closer.... Oh, no! They’re running away! Maybe they’re scared of the fuschia fartbag, or maybe it was the involuntary ego claim we yelled at them. Sigh... it’s so lonely being this rad. Well, we’ll just leave them a Bomber Card and some info on SES and BOL - having forsaken Squallywood, maybe they’ll be interested in a quality snowsports community. :) Oh! And we get C.N.A.R. points too!
two_ravens
Well, this blows!!! Just as the sun is coming out and the riding is getting really stellar, the patrol nabs us and hauls us down to the their office. Turns out there are rules against fartbags on the mountain in any shade of pink or fuschia. Who knew?!?!?! We have been accused of crimes against nature and reckless endangerment of the human visual cortex. Apparently the gnomes filed a complaint too. :( So our passes are pulled for the rest of today and the mountain is closed tomorrow. Grrrr. Alright, we’ll be back on our edges Tuesday then. two_ravens
will you have a video camera on when you switch your stance? Rode an entire day switch last year and it kicked my butt - don't think I'll be collecting those points this year... :o
two_ravens
A lazy day off for the SkES crew. Let’s see what C.N.A.R. points we can garner in our rad slothfulness. Hmmm..... we’re thinking we could claim ‘Soul Carver’ points - we easily qualify for that with just 2 custom Coilers, a set of TD2’s and a pair of Raichles with BTS kit - on top of a ’98 Subaru with 230,000 miles. Don’t even have to count all the second board kits, the Prior, Malolo or Nidecker bindings. Might also be a good time to cash in points for oooooold mittens and getting past BOL ‘Skidder’ stage. But first, let’s give Casper Carver a call and see if he’s up for a breakfast bagel...?
two_ravens
Here we are at the Hole Bagel, just 2 blocks from SkES House and right at the base of Snow King! Yummy, toasty bagels - the perfect lunch for a lazy day off!
two_ravens
Oh look! A surprise visitor! One of the gnomes has decided to check out the Hole Bagel too after reading about it on the SkES thread. He’s thinking hard booting looks cool and is contemplating a trip to SES next year. Who knew gnomes could be into hardbooting?!?!? You really can’t make assumptions, can you???
