Prior 4WD 169

SOLD!

A Prior 4WD 169, #12941, White Haida topsheet, purchased new from Bomber back in the fall of 2009. Ridden for a few months in the 09/10 season, then only very infrequently since then. Excellent condition. The topsheet has only light binding marks. The edges have never taken a rock hit and only gentle home tuning work has been done. The base has only one minor (superficial) scratch. 8mm camber. $400 shipped to CONUS. Selling because I lost 20 lbs thanks to carving and this board is now too stiff for me. PM via profile please.

Sorry, I didn't realize that there was a new post in the thread until I got notification of the last one. I bought the board when I started riding at 155 lbs. I weigh around 135 now. Prior recommends the 169 for 140 to 200 lb riders.

I'm pretty certain that the board still has the protective film on the topsheet. If it was an average specimen I would give it an average value, but this board is an excellent alternative for someone considering a new one. It is only an asking price anyway.

I'm in Tennessee where there is more crud and heavy slush than powder. How does this board handle when not on smooth corduroy?

Hi Bridges,

Welcome to the board! The 4WD is supposed to be something of a Swiss-army knife in the world of alpine snowboards. It carves well on groom but is designed to be useful in less-than optimum conditions such as bumps, crud, and slush. The tight sidecut makes it maneuverable and the wider width gives it more stability when it is being tossed around. For me however, I’m too light for this length and the board jostles me around quite a bit in crud. A more “normal” weight rider would allow for much of the bumping around to be absorbed in the flex of the board. Try playing around with the search function as the 4WD, aka 4x4, and other all-mountain boards are oft discussed. There is also more information on Prior’s web site and alpinecarving.com.

Bridges, just for the record. I've had a 169, a 174, and a 178. 4X4s are great all mountain carvers. They carve like a free carve board about 5cm shorter, but do it in anything. Short of a Coiler AMT, you can't get a better AM board.

ETF, I just noticed the year. Is this thing metal construction? If so, state it! Might change what I said about the Coiler. I haven't ridden a metal 4x4 (If Chris makes them)

No, not metal. If there are any metal 4WDs are out there, they must be custom skunk works things or WCRMs cut to an AM shape. I don't think there has been any substantive change to 4WD design since.... forever?
