Hello all

I just want to say thanks to everyone on the board. I have been snowboarding since about 1984 started on a Burton Backhill. I won't bore you with the rest of my ridding history other than to say I have never hard booted before. I have been ridding a Burton T6 which I love. I have been trying to find info about alpine ridding for a long long time. I stumbled my way on to this site and have been mildly obsessed ever since. I was able to pick up a Kessler 174 on E-bay. Thanks also to bomber online for a pair of deeluxe 225s and to Hard Booter . Com for some f2 bindings. The 225s are probably to soft for my 172 pounds but I thought they would be a good transition from soft boots. Today was my second day on the board and after studying some video I found my downhill edge. Oh my that is an amazing thing to come from your uphill edge still going across the hill switch to the down hill edge and get shot around with your whole body inches from the ground! I could always carve on my T6 and on the Kessler having the nose pointed downhill it's prity easy to go from edge to edge carving back and forth. But the 90 deg from the hill thing going from uphill to down hill edge and whipping back an forth with my arm and body on the ground is incredible. My first time in gates today as well and managed a silver. Sorry this was long and thank you all again. Another convert.

Welcome to Bomber!!

Great bunch of guys and gals that share the passion of pure carving.

Now hook up with some of your local alpine riders (check out your local ride board) it will be worth your while.

Enjoy!! Bryan

PS. There is a much higher percentage of old school riders here also. You are among fellow shredders for sure.

Be very, very careful - that is one of the most addictive sensations I know!!! :1luvu::1luvu::1luvu::1luvu: Oh wait - it's already too late for you - feel it just once and you need it again and again and again..... :p:eek::D:smashfrea:ices_ange:biggthump:biggthump:biggthump

Cheers!

Welcome to Bomber! I've found that freecarving is the best way to channel my inner old school vibes and intensity without the impact of the current fashion of huge jumps and rails. The board tech may be current and even futuristic, but I can wear whatever the hell I want when I'm surfing the cord :)

Kinetics,

What size are your Deluxe 225s, and what color are the tongues?

I have some spare tongues (fit mondo 25-27.5 boots). I have 4 different sets of tongues (gray, yellow, red, and black or dark blue). I think I listed those by increasing stiffness. I generally use the reds for carving and sometimes back down to yellow or gray if I'm going in powder or off trail. I have never used the black/blue and would be willing to part with them.

If you have the stock liners, a set of Thermo Flex would also add stiffness -look here:

Hey Dave thanks very much.

My boots are a mondo size 29 So I don't think that it would work. An honestly I am not good enough to probably notice the difference. I am having some trouble feeling the board through the hard boots. I also think my old school back knee tucked into the the front leg has left me to be a little to weight forward most of the time. I have to concentrate to get weight back through the toe side carve so my back leg doesn't "wash out" (I am not sure if that's the right term or not). Maybe as I get better I will understand how the stiffness of the boots translates to board control. Thanks again for the offer.

P.S. I am originally from the east coast just moved out here a few years ago.

miss that New England ice.

Welcome to Carving Kinetics,

All of your gear is good. Ride a few days with the So Cal carving crew before the season ends. Plenty of micro-sessions to join in. You will progress faster when fellow carvers check your gear and critique some turns. Not all advise is good, but pick what you like and roll with it. Your learning curve will be way steeper. Plenty of rippers down your way for sure.
