grock5
I was curious, for those of you who use an insulated mid-layer jacket, what is your preference between down or synthetic insulation for inbounds, lift accessed snowboarding purposes?? (eg: a down sweater vs synthetic jacket?) I'm looking for something to layer in between base & shell, and was wondering what people preferred/swear by on BOL. Thanks! Erik J
I stay away from down during strenuous daytime activities. Any chance that sweat can soak the down and take away its loft is bad IMO. I go for down at night when sleeping in really cold places. Depends on how much you sweat. On the not hellishly cold days I just layer fleece between shell and base layer. On the really cold days I prefer synthetic filled jacket between shell and base layer.
twelsch42
http://www.montbell.us/products/disp.php?cat_id=73&p_id=2301140 I've usually got one of these jackets on, or in my pack. Super duper warm. Weighs next-to-nothing. And is synthetic. Anything above 10F and it's too warm after about the middle of my 2nd run. Goes right in my pack, and I don't even notice it's there. carvin29
I just got a down sweater, taking it out as a midlayer the first time this weekend. It is def very light.
