snow mobile
did Volkl ever had a variable radius board......
dingbat
I believe most of their boards produced recently are multi-radius sidecuts of one type or another.

Jack M
I don't know for sure, but the "3D" sidecut they advertised seems like it would be a blend of 3 radii. I rode a 163 for several days many years ago and it was a great board. Pretty sure they're metal too. Volkls were ahead of their time - metal, multi-radii sidecut (I assume), a poor man's VSR. Oh look, the Bomber store has them in stock!
BlueB
Volkl was never real radial sc. They always had 3d sc, engineered to become close to radial at certain angle of inclination and decamber. Yet, it is not the same thing as the new school multiple or blended radius boards. Non-radial sc is nothing new, many companies had it in the form or parabolic (Elan), or progressive or regressive (some Rad-Air models, Cocoon...), or ellyptical (Madd, Virus), or some other form of mathematical curve... Some had it but still choose to quote a single radius in the specs for simplicity to users.

Oh look, the Bomber store has them in stock! Actually, from what I can tell by the two in my living room, the nose shape is quite different from a VSR. Increasing radius toward the nose, and of course, traditional camber. The nose is very soft and compliant though, so you can make it hook in to a turn like a VSR. The nose starts flapping when you get on the heavy, bumpy stuff though, or at least that's what my friends tell me.
