anke
Cross post with TahoeCarvers, but I need a quick repsonse...: Hi Everyone, I've been on a hardboot setup about 7 days, and feel it is now time to take a one-on-one lesson to really get the hang of the right technique. I feel confident enough on the setup, but don't feel like I am "carving". The earlier I take a lesson, the less I get used to the wrong technique. I checked the bomber instructor lookup for California: http://www.bomberonline.com/community/instructor_lookup.cfm I found 3 teachers in the Tahoe area. Since I have a voucher for Squaw, I wrote to Jayme Flo. I haven't gotten a response in a week, so am I am wondering if anybody knows if he's still around? If not, are there any people on this forum that have teaching skills? I personally think it not only takes some skills to be a great carver, but also being able to convey the details. All the theoretical write ups from bomber and the Almanac sound Latin too me. Is there anyone that would possibly give me a lesson for a few hours? I'd come to your resort (I have a season pass for Kirkwood), and pay you an appropriate rate. Get in touch with me and let me know what you have to offer Thanks P.S. I will be in Northstar tomorrow (Saturday) with a skier friend, so if anybody is there tomorrow, maybe we could ride ONE run together and you could take a quick glance at my riding and give me some pointers? Don't want to abandon my ski buddy too long, but that'd be awesome!! I'll also be in Tahoe City on Sunday, and would consider to do the lesson then, at whatever resort (ideally Kirkwood?). Just thinking out loud and seeing who's out there...

Loc
Try flosnowrider@yahoo.com Flo was my first carving instructor and he got me railing! I hope to take another lesson with him this or next year to polish up my technique and carve the steeps. I'm not sure if he still teaches at Squaw these days but that's where I met up with him.
