lonbordin
FTA-"Only a certain total number of snowboarders can represent the U.S. team, meaning that if more are selected to compete in halfpipe and snowboardcross, fewer spots remain for alpine boarders." Is this an IOC thing or a US Olympic Team thing? Really blows either way.
SuperBee
Each country has a quota per sport. In snowboarding, SBX/HP/Alpine is one sport, so the country has to decide in which discipline / gender they split their effort. Those quota are determined by their FIS World Cup results. You have max per gender & max of 4 per event USA & Canada, each have 18 spots, max 10 per gender.
philfell
It's an IOC thing.....At least they increased the max quota spots this time around. Last Olympics it was 16 was the max.
