Loc Posted July 8, 2009 Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 I sold my Canon HF100 camcorder to help pay for my new 5Dm2. I'll have to shoot a few weddings and bridezillas to get back in the red. This hobby's a money pit! pokkis Posted July 8, 2009 Report Share Posted July 8, 2009 Yep, main problem shooting carving with DSLRs is focusing to fast moving objects due short depth of focus, you will get very easily out of focus blurry stuff. Shooting racers should be slightly easier due they will make turns next to poles anyway and path is predictable, not like on free carvers. Jack M Posted July 16, 2009 Report Share Posted July 16, 2009 I agree that GH1 is a cool package. Basically all you give up is a TTL viewfinder and phase-detect auto-focus. Not insignificant things, but you end up with a very compact DSLR with no mirror slap, good live view, and a neat selection of lenses. The 12-60 f/2.8 - f/4 (24-120mm effective) gets good reviews and is very versatile. I've also read that the contrast-detect auto-focus works quite well, on par with entry-level DSLRs.
