Jack M
To my fellow geeks... Epoch Time, the number of seconds since 00:00:00 January 1, 1970, will be 1234567890 today at 18:31:30 EST. So if you see anyone nerdy staring at their digital watch or iPhone around then, that's why. http://coolepochcountdown.com

crote123
Too funny, my software uses epoch a lot but it never occured to me to check when that time tick would be. BTW, we're getting much younger on time tick 2147483648 :) $ date -r 2147483647 Mon Jan 18 22:14:07 EST 2038 and the next second: $ date -r 2147483648 Fri Dec 13 15:45:52 EST 1901 we're going back 137 years! pow4ever
solaris 7 date command suck.... had to use /opt/local/bin/perl -e 'print time. "\n"' 1234556846 I thought there is no way on a snowboard forum epoch time would show up :) it's going to be y2k38 all over again. Hopeffuly we are all retired by then
crote123
I used the date command on a FreeBSD system. the software I work on uses epoch a lot (for timestamps) and I also have my own tool to manipulate it. That's why it caught my eye. I also never expected epoch to show up here.
skatha
Geez, the extremely nerdy biologists around here thought we we're going to have a rousing discussion on which epoch was more exciting-the Paleocene epoch or Holocene one.... I vote Paleocene!
