Seasons
Ok,First off I am in the land of used boots.LOL Got some Raichle 413 or 423.Good 4 buckle with power strap came w/intec.Got some black tongues right here too.All used, but new. Problem is the left boot hinge on left side failed. Then the same for the right boot and both pivots failed.Came up with a repair and it looks stock. Yet actaul plastic piece in the channel provided in the shell is now striped So no matter how hard I tighten the pivot. It will just go pop and slide, inconsistently mind you, up and down.Right boot is holding. For those that are trying to follow this (Thank you) it is the little white plastic piece with in the pivot. It has little ridges like a Bike seat post. Angles are normalish,60 ish/0 up front High 50ish/3 in rear. Yes I am 200lb 6'2 and was over the nose and off the back of the board. But no pile drive or mega slamming .Not riding much over a 178cm often. Is this way unsafe? Is 60 day's asking to much out of boots? It was to much for the liners!! Is the shell just to soft and pivots are blowing out? (Boots are Grey) Is this common among other riders? Has this happened to you? It's not like I can Demo a pair of Deelux or Head now is it. Solutions? Speculation?
Mike T
Yes, this is common with the SB series boots. If they are gray you have 413's which are the softest ones. The 413 is too soft for most 200 pounders. I weigh 190 and like my boots on the soft side but even the 423's which are stiffer would be too soft. You can replace your trashed parts - a pair of these: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/parts_sb_cuff_cant.cfm in large and pair in small will hook you up. Ever since I stooped using these: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/parts_5_position_forward_lean.cfm and started using these: http://www.bomberonline.com/store/boots/BTS_kit.cfm I have not had any problems with the ankle hinges blowing out. It might help you as well.
b0ardski
I'd never realized before that bts will smooth out the pressure on the cuff hinge. I want fintec heels but I think bts should come 1st.
Seasons
Ohhh that would explain why the shell looks kinda stressed when flexing Did manage repair. But do need the Kit to replace the Plastic bits. Happy to know it is not just me. BTS would be dreamy. No $Quan$ for new boots today. How ever if there is a pair of M27.5 something good used.Who knows. Thanks Mike. Boardski? I thought you were on some new boots? Will fix my flex-able flyer boots and use for Identity Days. Thanx for the Hook up on that board by the way Boardski & Dr.D Is it snowing yet?!!?
