willywhit Posted February 4, 2008 Report Share Posted February 4, 2008 I have a friend that is really into gambling. Like balls out, thousands of dollars on the line for some events. He has been doing it for years and made many connections. He said more sporting events are rigged than you would think. Basketball is one of the bigger ones. I didn't believe him at first but then something funny happend during the NBA finals last year. I forgot the specifics, but he called that a key player would foul out in the opening minutes of the game and that team would get slaughtered even though they were said to win with a pretty big spread. He made bank, and so did the guy that told him. Sports are controlled by Vegas, and he proved that to me on many occassions. One thing he did say is that overall rigging is rarely done on a scale of the super bowl. Who knows. Pats had an amazing season but just couldn't stop that pass rush. That weakness was exposed later in the season IMHO. Also the recipe to shutdown Moss was exposed even though they made teams pay with Welker. Despite Welker's efforts they just came up short. What boggles me is that it took the Pats almost the entire game to figure out an offensive gameplan that worked (their final drive): Quick passes (DUH)! 3 step drops, shotguns, WR screens (some worked early dunno why they didn't continue). All the pats had to do was stop the Giants on that last drive so they have nobody to blame but themselves. When Eli escaped that sack and threw up the prayer to Tyree I kinda felt the "stars were aligned" for the Giants. When a guy secures a catch with his helmet you have to wonder... Oh yeah at least Plax juked his defender for his TD. The defender just fell down on the Moss TD. I kinda feel bad for Moss as he deserves a Super Bowl, but props to the G-Men for sure. How easy is it going to be to find those on the clearance racks...I bet they don;t sell a single one for full full retail...and a lot of them will be sent to china... I agree with almost everything said above...but the bottom line is C-H-O-K-E...pathetic and embarrassing. We are now back to the days of the OLD Patriots - loss to Denver in '06, loss to Indy last year, and now this...the party is over. We got our three Lombardi trophies - glad I was there to see it.
