rwmaron Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Took the family to Lutsen today figuring that there would be a similar (generous) snow cover as we have here in Duluth, but one or two storms must have veered off in the 90 miles between my house and Tofte. A very hard surface beneath a thin cover of loose power-tilled snow; they're trying hard but it wasn't much fun for carving, plus the usual holiday weekend mob was in attendance. Just a head's up if anyone's planning the long drive up from the cities...... Quote
bobble Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 i saw the ski report they show on kare 11 sometime last week, and it looked like the snow base for lutsen was quite a bit lower than spirit. i've had so much bad luck with lutsen that i have no real desire to go there. that bridge lift is scary when its windy. it scares me when i ride it and it scares me when i see little kids riding it and who don't grip the center pole. Carp Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Was up in the UP over the last week and the snow was the best it's been up there this early in the season. I suggest anyone looking for good conditions to head north of Wisconsin. The drive is really pretty too. Quote
rwmaron Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 The worst part was that we flipped a coin on the way out of the driveway and Giant's Ridge lost....... In the interest of full disclosure, though, it's not just coincidence that it's also known as "Giant's Fridge" Quote
