Justin A. Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 I finally got my new lens yesterday for my camera, and immediatley started shooting it. I just love the pictures that it takes. I don't really have a point here, I'm just excited . Here are some shots that I took earlier today. Quote
Jack M Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 very nice compositions, but those are pretty soft. what lens? Quote
Justin A. Posted January 22, 2007 Author Report Posted January 22, 2007 Its a Nikon 50mm f/1.8. Very inexpensive, but takes god photos. Alot of the softness is due to the "soft" setting on my camera, I was taking human portraits the day before and forgot to switch it back to normal. Quote
Jack M Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Hmm... I'd only use that soft setting if my subject requested it. Portraits should be tack sharp, imo: http://i11.tinypic.com/2myaxwm.jpg Quote
Justin A. Posted January 22, 2007 Author Report Posted January 22, 2007 She didn't request soft, did she? Anyway, I used "softer" the day before becasue I was shooting outdoors, in direct sunlight, in the snow. The sharper images were just wayyyy too harsh for our liking. Here's the best one of the day: Any sharper and it wouldn't have been even close to what we were going for. The highlights were burned unintentionally, but when I retook the photo, I greatly perfered this one. Quote
Jack M Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 nice! that's sharp. I have the Canon 50/1.8, and it's extremely sharp when it hits, but the AF is poor in sub-ideal light. I don't use it anymore since I got my 24-70/2.8L. Quote
