C5 Golfer
Iam reading an article about a Saw Blade that can detect human flesh and stop a 4000 RPM saw blade in .003 sec. ,, Wouldn't that be nice to know that I may make to 95 yr old with all 10 digits when working around my home shop. You can see this article at www.designnews.com. Fascinating! The stats showing in the article are in 2002 there we 33,144 injuries on a table saw and 3,503 amputations. Isn’t it nice that we live in an era of technology that allows some smart guys to even think there is a away instead of always saying “you Can’t do that”
jnshapiro
The day I took off the end of the little finger on my left hand, I could have used it!
Gecko
man that would have been nice when I notched the tip of my left index finger with a bandsaw...though superglue worked well
skategoat
I know so many hobbyists missing parts of fingers. So far, I've been fortunate enough to avoid it (furiously knocking on wood). Maybe that new saw blade is borrowed from the medical industry. Don't they have saws like that for cutting off casts?
jnshapiro
Cast saws don't spin. They vibrate. As such, they won't do any damage to skin. I've had more than a few casts cut off
pnwradar
Sawstop.com $2800 for the cabinet saw, but what's a finger worth? They've also got a contractor saw coming, and they're testing on bandsaws, chopsaws, and circsaws. If I used power tools in the woodshop, they'd be getting my money. -jon-
