  1. [X] I'm looking for a sugar momma to buy me season passes and gear
  2. I finally ordered Intecs from Hardbooter.com after the first half of November came and went without Intecs at the Bomber store.
  3. Where would you get those bumpers? The Bomber store doesn't list any TD1 parts.
  4. Look like another snowless week for the sierras. Sooo, I'm gonna get some DVDs from Netflix instead of riding. What are the best of the Warren Miller films? I'm not expecting any carving, and relatively little snowboarding, but I don't mind watching skiers, as long as it's big mountain kind of stuff. I'd rather avoid the freestyling stuff. I've put Snowriders and Freeriders at the top of my queue. Good choices?
  5. Bomber has only the TD2 manual PDF up. Is there an online manual available for TD1s?
  6. Yard Sale

    Nidecker for $275

Consider this the requisite "Got specs?" post.
  7. Yeah I guess two strokes are still prevalent in AMA Supercross. But that's just a circus show one step removed from freestyle jump contests. They are still shoving four-strokes down our throats everywhere we look.
  8. Nah he was a grey market importer out of SoCal. Cycle News called him and told him they were going to print my letter unless he disputed the facts (that he had my money and I had no bike). He decided to return the deposit and I decided to ask CN not to print it. Thank gawd for GP. I can't even watch MX anymore; it's all four-strokes, U.S. and international.
  9. Yeah, Reality Check. Remember the guy who was selling off all his gear because after 10 days he hadn't learned to carve? Everybody said stick with it. Ten days is a significant portion of many people's available days on the mountain. If I'm not linking carved turns in 10 days, screw it. It took me one day to learn how to ride a board; I'm not spending ten times that long just to learn how to carve one. BTW, the available written riding tips mostly stink. (That's my professional opinion as an unemployed technical writer.) We really need a good instructor to make a DVD. Just watching a few seconds of online video seems more helpful than paragraphs of text. Just imagine a professional instructor narrating that video.
  10. Even few-years-old TZ250s are expensive. If you are not set on quarter-liters, look into eighth-liters. Only one cylinder, much cheaper to maintain, and light enough to pick up by yourself and load into your van. I once tried to buy/import a grey market Suzuki RGV250 Gamma. I got my money back from the guy when he learned Cycle News was going to publish my letter about him. Soon thereafter he left the country and a friend was screwed out of thousands of dollars for his bike. I got into dirt bikes, specifically two strokes, which are tuned for broad torque. I can just imagine what a road-tuned ring dinger is like when the revs climb and the power valves open up.
  11. Does Aprilia still make the Suzuki-RGV-engined RS250? That sounded like the hot ticket for me to get back on the track. I just barely keep in touch with roadracing now. Back in the day, the TZ250 was the shjt, though a few people got hold of Hondas and Aprilias. You gotta love a bike that requires your resume before they'll sell it to you.
  12. The grass is always greener, or the powder is always deeper... Maybe a 178 isn't ideal for me because on powder days I want to run The Chutes: 45-55 degrees, narrow, and crowded. But a 178 would just make me that much more faster than the skiers and jibbers, right?
  13. No that doesn't make sense. Oh, you mean the tongue is pushed down to near the bottom of the straps? I got a large pair of Flow Pro C FR and with my size 10.5 Airwalks (bulky), I've got plenty of room at the toe edge of the binding frame and plenty of room for the tongue. The M/Ls are cheaper on eBay so I figure my next pair will be that size. Unless I end up with some huge boots like K2 T1 or Vans Fargo. Mondo 27 (US 9) is right between the M/L and Large Flow Pro frames on their size chart. (Did you know nobody discounts the 06 Malamutes? Dayuuuuum.)
  14. I just took the plastic off mine. Never even mounted bindings and haven't yet prepped the base. Let's talk!
  15. For those of you using Malamutes in Flow Pro bindings, is a 26.5 or 27.0 Malamute too big for a M/L size Flow Pro?
  16. This alpinewbie wants a cheap pair of X Bone bindings.
  17. Is there any difference besides the lace lock thingy on the top of the outside tongue? Does the 05 have that heel hold-down strap?
  18. utahdeafcarver, are you a lightweight? Maybe you don't have enough pounds to sink the tail. I haven't mounted bindings yet and I'm wondering where to locate them for my 180 pounds.
  19. OK I know I said "base" in the topic title, but what do you think of the edges on new 4807s? Mine seem kinda dull, but I know precisely jack shjt about edges.
  20. I've got a new O'Sin 4807 in my hands and hot wax supplies on the way. (I bought Dominator wax because they sponsored SES.) How do you deal with waxing/scraping the boat hull shape?
  21. Isn't it easier and less destructive to just move the bindings back? (I just bought a 168.)
  22. Probably very well against wax "bullets" and blanks. (Don't pay any attention to me; my reaction time alone, to an anticipated audible signal, is about the same as the Fast Draw world record, .252. My fastest draw is three times that, and I don't even have to cock the hammer.)
  23. I tried on a Salomon F20 in mondo 26.5/US 8.5 and it fit my 10.5 foot fine. Same for a Burton Driver X in US 9 (brand B doesn't use mondo). Unfortunately the shop doesn't stock Malamutes or Synapses. I was thinking I would have to get the Synapse Wide but now I don't think so. Further proof that you should heed Bomber's boot fitting advice and ignore conversion charts/US sizes.
  24. I'm going to try it because after watching James and Daneille carve up Mt. Rose, I realized: - Carving is beautiful - Carving (as well as I can manage in my soft setup) feels great - Carvers "own" the trail they are on and make everybody else look like gapers - I never ride pipes, rails, boxes, and the like - I rarely ride fakie - I rarely jump - I never do tricks when jumping - I spend most of my time on groomed trails - Being unemployed, I can ride weekday mornings when the crowds are small and the groomers are ideal Even if it's a total disaster and I end up hating hardboots and alpine boards, at least I've realized there are better boards, boots, and bindings for the type of riding I want to do.
