  1. Serious dumpage happening NOW. Between the A.M. report and 11:00 A.M.

it snowed 6"+. Had to take the skwal off due to too much side boot drag !!!

Tomorrow should be EPIC POW !!! I'm unsure about where to ride tomorrow.

Depends on who got the goodies....

  2. Lovey reported 6" but it was 1+ feet in many places. The Duret Monstre Mono ruled today !! People just don't ride the trees here. Run after run of my own tracks in the trees. It just doesn't get any bettah. First chair on 6 and first tracks on 5 or 6 runs before resorting to the trees. Not too cold, not much wind.... HUH ?

    Tomorrow should be good....

  3. if I was any better I'd be a set of twins. By the way there isn't any conceit in my family........................................

    I GOT IT ALL

There isn't any other Skwal riders around here so I guess I'm the best.

All joking aside, I'd say average, at best. Especially when riding with the LCI, those guys ROCK, and leave me in the dust.

  5. While riding my Volkl Monocarver, (skwal), yesterday, Twice people who were about to load with me refused thinking I had lost one of my skis and thus would crash on the top/get off. Both times they saw me at the top clipping in and then realized that it was one ski. Another time I had a lifty refuse to let me on with one ski. "you need to have both skis on to ride this lift". Even after showing him the front binding and how it worked he made me wait for his supervisor to ok me to ride the lift.

  6. I'm running around 3* toe lift on the front, no cant, and around 8* heel lift on the rear foot, no cant. Also 90*/90* angles. I'm in ski boots which don't have the forward lean that an alpine boot does.

  7. Once I got the hang of it, it was an absolute BLAST!

I thought you might like it, and, as I cautioned you, watch your speed !!

At 8M SCR it has a speed limit. I'm ridin' a Volkl Monocarver with a 14.5M SCR.

It's a metal board circa 2001 that I found new this year. I mounted Catec OS 2's on it and It will ride @ "Alpine" speeds. I love it !!! So if you really like the Skwall thing find one of those. I think it was the only "Metal" Skwall ever made. Just like todays metal alpine boards it's damp, tenacious and has the ability to scare you BAD.

  8. My new Powder Monoski works awsome in the Deep pow without wax. Nobody can keep up. On the green/blue runs most of the boarders have to take a foot out and skate. Even skiers have to pole thru while I just glide by. Cold snow No wax. As far as other times/snow conditions I seem to have the best luck with a Flouro based Cold temp wax for all conditions. Even in warm/slush I out glide my mono buddies who used warm or all temp.

Base structure is very important to the glide ratio as well, Prolly more important than wax. I hot wax then buff it in then brush it to remove the wax from in the structure in the base.

  10. Could this be loveland? no need for a Belligayva, 7 layers of fleece and mittens in Febuary? Am I in an alternate universe? Word is out , no interlopers at our table this am, no need for any beat downs. Don't mess wit' the LCI. Pete and I got a run down fire cut before they set gates for the racecourse and scarred the bastid up so bad they couldn't figure out where to set the course, the groomers where heading back up the hill to fix things, but the race coaches figured running crevasses would build character and called them off. Arneburner is so badass that he scared the threads of of his heel bail following my line on the cat walk and emerged unscathed. We where joined by Big Dave from steamboat, and Balboa Jeff, who is selling all of his tele gear after Inks Tutorial. Spent some one on one time tormentoring AC, he is beginning to show some progress, he just needs to stop thinking about turns and start turning. We may have overloaded him.

    belgin style beers are good

Was up ridin' with Bob this morning, saw PC demoing a split board.

Wish I was there yesterday, I swear I heard some snowboarders talking/wondering why there were new semi circle half pipes all over the hill :biggthump

  11. All praise be to Inkaholic!

A legion of unclean spirits where driven from me, I AM HEALED! Those who witnessed can testify, like loaves and fishes ............but colder. My gratitude for wisdom!

Jeff you looked like a new rider by the end of today. I'd say you jumped several levels today. Great job !!!! Ink you are an asset to the Carving community. Patience and invaluable knowlege. I think all of us have benifitted from riding with you. As for the rest of the LCI ....you guys all rock, and riding with you all has upped my game for sure. I just LOVE riding up the chair looking at the CARNAGE a few carvers can do to a run. :eplus2:

  12. The Monoski community had a GOOD laugh over that one. It is very impractical. Especially when he designed the Mono Pant to go with it. It might work but..... but some things make you go...... WHY

I'm all for "thinking outside the box", but on what planet ?

  13. Time and time again in this age of new school this and new school that, groups of innovators have struggled to change their sports for the better. Often new ideas conflict with accepted thought and are even harder to get accepted in sports that have strong instruction programs.

I have really been impressed by the acceptance this community has come to (eventually) of the various styles of riding that are out there. If it looks good, then it can't be very wrong and what's even more important is that the participants are having fun. I think this is in large part due to alpine not really being part of main stream instruction anymore.

    BobD

I'm a good example of that. I ride Monoski or Skwal, (Volkl Monocarver)... The Lovey crew has made me feel very accepted. For me , as well as everyone here, it's ALL about the CARVE, and the general STOKE of ridin'.

They all think I'm some kinda' freak....

It's good to know that all my hard work has finally been recognized. :eplus2:

This is a rockin community and I'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks Guys...

  14. You'all missed a GREAT powder day today. Typical Lovey day... Gale force winds at the top of any of the chairs, occasional white-out conditions....

But DEEP. On ridge tops it was sketchy at best but as soon as you dropped below it was heaven. The Duret Monster Fat ruled today !!!
