  1. Riding up the chair lift at White Face yesterday there were markers noting how much higher than other mountains were were. at the Summit there were signs saying how high up we were (4000+ feet). At the end of the day it was moot though - who cares about vertical when it is sheer ice anyway. It is not the size that matters, it is about conditions!

Summit altitude is actually a moot point you are right. The skiable elevation is what matters. A summit of 6000' with a base lodge at 4500' leaves only a 1500' mountain for arguments sake. Marble is 1700' ( could have swore it was 1900' ) from about 30' above sea level.

  2. Yesterday morning I was waiting with my 6 year old daughter to meet her ski instructor. My 177 Coiler VSR was standing against a post nearby. Another couple arrived with their daughter and were waiting a few feet away from us. I heard the little girl say to her father "Daddy is that a fake snowboard?" Before I even had an opportunity to turn around my daughter responds quite indignant "No it is NOT a FAKE snowboard!!!" Guess she takes this whole carving thing a little more seriously than I thought! I don't think the other parents were as amused as I was!

  3. The package includes all meals/drinks + tips, travel to and from event, shuttle service throughtout the week, VIP ski check, overnight waxing/tune, valet parking, reserved tables in the lodge, private 1 on 1 instruction and 100 entries in the banquet raffle. A bargain really for $166!

Just noticed this post. Is this correct?

  4. Figured this was due now that the season has actually started.

I will be at Vorlage for the next 7 Saturday mornings. Will have free ride time from about 10:15 till noon while my daughter is in lessons.

Post it here for ride days or nights!

  5. Wondering if anyone might have a set of these bindings kicking around they would care to part with? I still have my old '89ish Kemper Screamer kicking around that I have thought about making turns with again. These are the original style bindings. I broke one in spectacular fashion and subsequently tossed the other years ago.

Let me know if you can help me out!!

  6. Hi folks,</O:p

<O:pLast year, the National Capital Ski Club partnered with Tommy & Lefebvre to organize an awesome weekend package to Jay. It was such a success that the Club's trip guy, Jack, has put together three trips with T&L this season. Tara & I are considering the Feb excursion and am looking for someone we know to share a quad cabin.</O:p

<O:pCheck out the incredible pricing below (I am assuming this is a per person price) which includes transport, accomodation and lift tix for three days. T&L uses their corporate status to pass on this deal to us.

<O:pFor anyone that has not been to Jay Peak in a few years, the skiing/riding is as good as ever, however, they built an amazing new lodge (the old one was like an old slipper; small, comfortable but well worn around the edges) that is far superior to the one that is no more. Plus, they are talking of expanding their snow area!...

  7. Almost every bad accident I have had involved flat light of some kind. So I stopped riding in flat light. Lost a lot of days that way..rode lots of half days..

Until I got the Zeal Yellow lens.

Now I can ride in very flat light and in falling snow without much of a problem.

They cut my injury rate down.

I have the same issue John. I find flat light very unnerving to ride in and like you have cut many days shorter than I would have liked just due to comfort level.

I snapped a strap hinge on a pair of Scott goggles last season so I have to replace them with something that will also suit night riding.

Anyone have recommendations for wide goggles? Or a solution on how to fix the size adjuster retaining clip molded into the inside of a Smith helmet? Mine cracked and now i have to wear a hat to make up the extra space inside the helmet. Either that or I was going to use boot fitter foam to fit it a little better.
