  1. Head and Raichle developed concurrently, but separately. Raichle became Deeluxe. Both the 3xx series and 700's were produced under Raichle then evolved into the current offerings.

At the end of the day, it's likely you are going to have to pull the trigger on the best starting point and then spend some time with a fitter or tinkering. A good fit is generally going to trump the intricacies of how these differ and the product features. If you can get a good heal hold and then punch to fit, odds are good you can make them work for you.

  2. My wonderful wife was the one that pointed out it looked like I had another space in the rack. While I have a pretty solid selection, it's not really a hoard, per se. I like to cycle stuff out while it still has lots of life and then move on to the new (to me) hotness, usually a couple of years after it's actually new. But this one came in the wrapper!

The atomic one is definitely not the same having the two straps above and below. The Trustrap 2.0 are mounted together as one inner and outer strap. Cool though, that more companies are looking into the benefits of the top strap and innovating new ideas.

Nothing "wrong" with the original, just another option for personal preference and customization of fit.

Ink, if you end up wanting to sell those MS ones, holler.

  4. Yeah, I have a list comparing MS with imperial and metric iso springs if you want. I've had no desire to change from the MS strap, but I can see the benefits of a Patriot inny/ outy. That atomic looks like it might be the ticket for softboot!

Also, last I checked All Board Sport had a decent selection of spare parts state side. They also have the MS boot bags in stock.

  5. To me its all about heel hold. I have a really low volume foot, and I was never able to get UPZ or Deeluxe/ Raichle to hold my foot securely without crushing it, either with buckle pressure, fit foam, board mods or all of the above. In MS I get much better heel hold without the need to crush my foot. No amount of liner work got me even close before. Note: I've run these with mid volume Scarpa liners and currently with the SBC wraps.

If UPZ were as good of a fit, I'd have not spent the extra $$. But they have paid for themselves everytime I've worn them.

  6. This was a prototype I bought from Jasey in a parking lot after his Hood testing. My understanding is that it's a prototype and roughly a "Cypress" with extra rubber. He calls it a 161, my tape tells me it's about 163, 19.5ish in the middle, and roughly a 9-12m blended sidecut (originally listed as "10m" equivalent).

It has 4x4 inserts and a plate set up as he had it. It originally had a terrible sharpie job denoting his testing which has since been colored and has a P-tex look now.

This is a killer board, and I'm pretty old (in spirit) and lazy and stick to my big cruisers, so it's still in essentially the same shape it was after I bought it. I'd guess with his testing and my riding it's got maybe 7-10 days.

Asking $600 plus actual shipping (usually around $45 in the US for ground it seems, about $50 to most of Canada).

If you would like higher resolution photos, just send me a forum message/ email. Thanks!

  7. I don't know if you have done a shell fit, but it's worth looking at how much space you have around your foot.

When I mold my liners, I do so with a double toe cap and essentially a nylon to get as much wiggle as I can around my toes and as snug a fit as I can everywhere else. It's a less than pleasant molding process, but it's made up for with good circulation on the hill.

I can't speak to your particular feet and boots, but in UPZ I always replaced the liners with an Intuition wrap. You may or may not benefit from some shell fitting with a qualified boot tech.

  8. a) I don't think she would have pulled it if she thought she was going to fall

    b) I have to question if it was planned/ decided so much as just a vibe in the moment

    c) this happened several years ago, funny we still care. athletes mess up all the time- it's part of the game

    d) she just won. might be time for us to talk about that?

  9. I was just as impressed by the folks that faltered and recovered/ didn't go down as the folks that won. Just amazing athleticism across the board.

While the top racers can debate the minutia, it just shows how good all the top equipment brands are these days. I'll probably pick up another Virus, but I have no illusions it's going to make me ride like Ben.
