  1. Appreciated!

I can't make this week/end. However, both my wife and I have family in Pittsburgh and we may end up traveling up there at some point this season. If I go up I am going to try to hit Seven Springs. Anyone go there? I've never been to Wisp in the winter, even having lived in the Burgh' up unitl 2004. Springs was an hour from my door. Now that I sometimes drive 3 hours to go to the crud we have down here... a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh doesn't sound that bad!

BTW - any of you going to the SES?

  2. How generous you are. If my schedule works out on Friday, I will gladly take you offer and I'll chip-in for gas too.

I did it last season alone when we had the last storm on March, I couldn't just let that opportunity slide and took 6 hours driving with 1.5 hours on lift, which comes down to less than 2 hours of riding but never regret that. Today's WT Cam shows dirts on middle of trails (exhibition, snowpark, jib junction, and most of all others) due to last few days of 60s temp.

I will probably know by Wednesday night and let you know.

Hmmmm..... its been terrible down here... flipping 70+ degrees.... how is wisp right now... I am 6 hours from wisp

  3. Is the 167 the same board you purchased last year? If so, nice profit margin...

    http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?36719-FS-Sims-Burner-167

They made more than one 167 Burner that year. Crazy I know...

This one comes WITHOUT a chipped top sheet on the nose.

I normally don't say much.... but that thar' is a dick move bouz'y :smashfrea

Of course maybe you really are onto something....! I am never purchasing another used item on Bomber for more then the lowest that same or like item has ever sold!

Keep selling those Viri low Mr. Shred... :eplus2:

  4. All,

I saw a couple of riders in our region start posting. So I figured it would be good to start our usual riding thread now.

    .

About 5.5 hours to the shoe and 7 to wisp... sigh... don't think I'll be up that far north this year. If I am up near wisp I usually hit 7springs.

  5. As always come ride with me anytime to see what I am about..

I always heard that his riding was top shelf

And Lord I just could not wait to find out for myself

Don't knock it til' you tried it, Well I tried it my friend

I'll never ride alpine with Bordy again

    :D

My "top" speed.... 55ish with a gps at snowmass, accuracy.. no idea.

  6. I made this one in '93(edit): Actually I did the analysis in '93 and built the board in '91.

I made a soft boot asym at least 3 years prior to that, but have no idea if it's still in the shed. Looks like Tom has that beat by a couple years though. (edit) perhaps the above dates change that. Maybe I did produce an asym around the '88/'89 season. Who can remember that far back.

Sean - I think you should do a run of boards or plates with that old school Donek logo.... "special edition" :D

  7. What are my options for the NC or nearby area for getting a stonegrind (getting base structure cut into the board). Here's the accumulated wisdom so far :-

    - Alpine Ski Center - Raleigh. No stonegrinds. Belt sand only.

    - Extreme - Banner Elk. They have a machine which can do it. Have not found any reviews of work

    - Edge of the World - Banner Elk. Not sure, but I recall they said they have a machine.

    - Ski Tennis Station Winston Salem - allegedly do do stonegrinds. Have not found any reviews of work

    - Mail order - skimd. Superb.

    Any wisdom out there?

Call Extreme and ask if Carl still works there. Request that he does the tune. (I think it was extreme... the place across from Sugar). Anyway, if he still works there he did a nice job on a few of my boards. He basically told me he wouldn't let anyone at the shop touch tune my board but him....

  8. Let's see.... I lived in PA until 2004 and Seven Springs was my home (1 hr from my driveway). Normal season was about 30 days of riding.

Moved to NC (Charlotte) due to work

Only get about 10 days locally and one 7 day trip each year (ECES this year)

There are a few of us in NC but rarely do we ride together. Your riding will stagnate if you stay local. I know my riding has not improved much since 04 (aside from maybe being able to ride in subpar conditions) due to lack of days on the snow. You'll have to get a trip or two in to a worthwhile location AND ensure you are riding with others that are better than you. This is one reason why I head to the SES or ECES every year.

I would certainly like to move to a more winter sport friendly location but it isn't high on my priority list right now. If you are open to any location, I would definitely broaden your search. However, if you move down this way let me know, we need more riders!
