Was also thinking of heading out that day. Probably Nakiska.
I'm heading to Nakiska tomorrow...

I will most likely not be there. But I'm going to try...

For this thread, we'll stick with Nakiska. If Panorama or Golden comes up as a group ride for another date, I'm in!

Al,
I'd be tempted to keep it up on the wall so that some two-planker doesn't come and scrape a ski pole across the deck.
Steve
P.S. For SES, I'll bring down a small Canadian Flag sticker for the tail...

Brad and I had a great time laying down some sweet carves with Ryan tonight. We scared the begeebers out of some of the newbies sitting in the middle of the runs.
Where was everyone else???
Oh well, next time...

Wow, what a detailed update! Thanks.
I was at Nakiska yesterday and it was in excellent condition with no crowds. I just wish my early-season legs would have held out longer...

Please post Sunshine conditions here. I'll be at Nakiska tomorrow...

What is the $300 fee for? Is this more than just a social gathering of carvers?

Okay, I'm in for this Monday night for a rip. I'll also be at Nakiska on Sunday for their opening weekend.

Anything happening this coming Monday, December 10th? I sent an email to MJB requesting details but haven't heard anything back.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for he email Kurt! I never visit this section of the forum.
I typically have hockey or soccer on Monday evenings, but will ditch either for a least a few sessions. I'm not a racer, just a carving enthusiast.
Please send me the details.
Thanks,
Steve Recsky

I will likely be at Louise on Sunday on plates...

Hi Michelle,
Darcy and I are planning to come down again for entire event.
Al and Felicia, glad to see you're returning. Can't wait to see the new Prior.
The custom Coiler I won last year at SES will also be making the journey...

Fernie's tentative opening date is December 8th.
Check out Kimberley and Castle Mountain.

Looks like Montana is either the weekend of Jan 19 or 26.
So, lets go with Sunday, January 13, 2008.
The Street Cred Rail Jam is scheduled on the 12th.
I'll try and get something posted on Nakiska's event calendar.
BTW, Darcy and I from are planning to head down for SES again this year. Hopefully we can drag some other Albertans down with us...

Last year a few of us got together near the end of the season to carve it up at Nakiska.
I'd like to try and arrange the same venue except have it in mid-January.
Any opinions?

Meet: 9am at central Olympic caldron

Imagine my surprise when my daughter called me at the office and said "Dad, did you order something? There's a package at home for you."
Bruce at Coiler said he wouldn't build me the free board I won until May. He lied. Bruce, thank you soooo much. There is enough of the season left where I should be able to get out for a test run without hitting any rocks.
And thank you again, Fin and Michelle. I'm already planning to come back next year and win another board...
Steve
P.S. Here was my order:
- All Mountain Board
- 172 length
- 21.5 waist
- Micrograin Base
- Full Wrap Edge Nose
- Top Sheet: Orange Flames
-
Nothing but rain with some sloppy new stuff up top :(
Looks like the end is near!

What a bunch of slackers those guys are...
Oh well, I'll have my revenge on Rosa!

Will be in Kimberley on March 24/25 weekend staying on the hill.
There will be 3 of us in our group that will have the carving sticks out.
The temp is forecasted to be about +10C, so we'll how the snow holds up. They just got 8cm yesterday.

MPG Evidence that we actually carved...

It was bullet-proof in the morning, so we took a break to let the snow loosen up. After that, it was fun carving throughout the day until both our legs and the snow turned to slush.
Everyone in the photo was riding anything between 152 and 167. I would have been on my Prior 183 WCR, but it hasn't come back from repairs yet. There was another guy on a Coiler 187 custom that wasn't in the photo. However, I don't think board length matters at any mountain. Since I got my Prior 183 (14m SCR) I've ridden it very comfortably at SES 2007 in Aspen (Buttermilk and Snowmass), Nakiska, Sunshine and at the steeps in Golden. To answer your question though, Nakiska is probably the widest open-carving hill I've ridden at and loves to be trenched with long boards.
Sorry, I don't have any action shots. We were having too much fun playing cat and mouse to take many photos. I will try and distribute the remainder of the photos I did take...
On another note, if anyone is in Kimberley next weekend, my entire family and I will be there with 3 hard-booter in the mix.

Kurt, I have some 3's you could try at one of the COP Monday night sessions if yours don't arrive soon. Let me know.
