  1. Beaver Creek Grooming Report:

After a foot of fresh, it was finally a day that I wasn't cursing because of hitting some base gouging obstacle in the snow.  Too soft for the Proteus, would have been better on the Coiler NFCB, but that was laid to rest two weeks ago after blowing out an edge.

The judges want the USA to have the best possible chance at Olympic gold and Shaun White has one of the best chances to deliver + he has a great run and they see a chance to give him a boost before the Olympics = 100

I think that this comment is dead-on.  Shaun White didn't even make it to finals in the previous two qualifiers.

  3. I love this thread, and was wondering what had happened to it. Saturday I had a lifty look down at my gear as I approached the "wait here" line, then grab my arm while she was asking if I needed help getting on the lift like I was an elderly citizen crossing the street with a walker.  I was stunned.. and all I could say was "seriously"?

My only solace was that my new chairmate said, "yeah, it was a little suprising that she thought a guy on a carving board would need help getting on the chair".

Think the Beav will be any good this Friday?

I was unable to make it up to the Beav today, but they reported 10" today and most runs are open. It should be good, that is if you are ready for some real carving. Let me know if you are going to be there tomorrow.

I put this under the tree for my wife for Christmas-I guess she is officially a hardbooter now!    165 Nirvana Free Carve Balance with custom Barnegat Lighthouse graphics.  It is one of her favorite places and a perfect fit for a snowboard!

Very cool board Joe... I'm sure it was well received.  It is such a versatile designed board. I rode my 174 NFCB last weekend - Saturday on bulletproof, then Sunday with 9" powder chasing my daughter down the steeps and bumps. It works exceptionally in both conditions.

  6. I went up yesterday morning with my daughter and Upper Latigo and Centennial were well maintained with man-made snow, but still pretty limted amount of terrain open and because of that, way too many people.  I'm hoping to be able to join you on th first.

Powder Snake - In the trees, board goes under a fallen tree that is beneath the snow.  Doesn't end well.

I can attest that this is true.  20" powder day... never saw it coming. Riding alone in the trees is not a good idea.

  8. I have had two occasions where I was glad to have been wearing a leash after binding failure on the chairlift. So every set of my bindings has one attached to the toe bail. It beats the heck out of walking down the mountain sans board. I also pay more attention to the status of my bindings now.

That turned out great Joe - Enjoy!  Too bad it didn't make to you in time for your CO trip.
