  1. Thanks for posting the ad, I'm a dinosaur and don't know how to do that.
  2. Hey all, I saw a Donek on the Portland Craigslist, it is listed as a Donek Proteus 175". The photo looks more like a Freecarve from 03-04. The seller does not know anything about the board and when asked to send a better picture or any other info written on the board has a lot of excuses why he can't. Listed at 150.00 obo. Any one get a board stolen recently? Seems pretty sketchy. Meanwhile , conditions pretty much suck in the nw. I've got a few days at t-line and a bunch at Stevens Pass but it has not been good. Hoping to break out the hardboots for the first time this year at T-line and maybe Meadows during the time between tomorrow and next weekend.
  3. Todays conditions made up for yesterday. Mostly clear and acres of wind blown pow on Palmer. Groomers looked awesome and i kind of wished i had the hardboot set up but the off piste out of bounds was sick. Todays tool of choice was the Donek 172 incline, Burton Diodes on Bomber Power Plates.
  4. Had to give up after 2.5 hrs today. Super foggy, lots of new 30 degree snow, HEAVY, Mile and Palmer closed, Norman ran for 1.5 hrs then closed. That left Pucci. It's got to be better tomorrow, Sunday and Monday, though it's not looking to good. May have broken my new Donek FC metal last weekend. It has some suspicious cracks in line with the inserts closest to the tip and tail.
  5. Another awesome day at T-Line. Palmer was rock hard first thing but the mile was great. About the time the mile was getting soft Palmer was great. Much like our first runs on Palmer yesterday. Only saw 1 other hardbooter today, " Randy". Did not ride with him. When our paths crossed getting on the Mile, I had switched to soft boots and a 172 Incline and was headed out of bounds with a skier buddy. Out west of Palmer was smooth cream cheese, just like yesterday. Great day! Back in Seattle now, headed down for the final weekend Friday or Saturday - Monday.
  6. Was good meeting Ben, Octavio, Dan, Steve and Mark Sat., conditions were poor at best. Today, on the other hand was fu*&in awesome .A little foggy to begin with , then bluebird. Palmer groom was as good as it gets once they opened it. After a bit, went out of bounds out west with with Russ where it was out of control good!. Hopefully more of the same tomorrow. Great meeting you all!
  7. Having ridden at Timberline all season, I will say that if it is pretty cloudy , the top will not be open. That leaves 2 chairs, 5-6 runs, and the snow on the Norman chair could be suspect. The mile has basically 4 groomed runs. However, I've seem them blow the forecast many times and the weather on Hood can change in a instant. Right now forecast looks grim. Easy for me to go up for 2-3 hrs, as my place is 25 min away. 20 hrs of driving is another story. Tough decision.
  8. Friday , 5/04 great conditions, blue bird, all day on the Donek metal freecarve, Sat was good til 11 or so when mountain was closed for wind for the rest of the weekend. Friday and sat 5/10 -11 sunny and warm, mountain was soft from the get go. Grooming on Palmer was terrible, out of bounds Palmer was glue from the start. Mile held up as well as can be expected for the temps, 60s in the pm. Best places were where the ski racers had been training and salting. They were gone by noon or so. Hopefully it gets colder at night allowing the snow to snap, hasn't for a week or more.
  9. Past couple of weekends have been great at Timberline, yesterday was no exception. Very firm 1st thing with the surface holding up well for hardbooting until noon or so. Changed to the softboots and incline for out of bounds on Palmer and made it til 2:30. More of the same today and tomorrow. Spoke briefly with another hardbooter on a Tinkler, " Randy".
  10. [QFinUOTE=Dan;400427]Hell, that's a nice selection of boards - I should be asking to demo from your quiver! Actually, I demo'd a 2011/2012 Donek metal FC two seasons back (or maybe it was a 2010/2011?) and it was fantastic. I think you'll be really happy with yours when you get a chance to get it on snow. As far as getting over 80 days a season...well...I can't lie, I'm pretty jealous. I might not hit 20 this year and this was a decent season for me. I guess that means it's time for me to look for another job ;) Finally got it on the snow last Monday and had a blast. I hope to get at least a couple of 1/2 days this weekend, gotta mix it up w/ some soft booting.Self employment has few benifits but one of them is making your own schedule. Hope to see you at Timberline in a few weeks.
  11. Bryan, I don't carry a camera while I'm riding but it was a beautiful am. I've only seen a couple of hardbooters at T-Line this season, including yesterday riding pow. Hope to run into some of the Mt. Hood carvers at some point. I'll be down 3-4 days a week for the rest of the season and would love to see the collection. I'll let you know when I have a little extra time on the way down or back. I shoot for Friday -Sunday or Monday on the mountain. Warren
  12. After riding either pow, slop or chunder at Stevens and Timberline for the past 3 weeks , this am I was finally able to get on some great groom with the new Donek. 20 degrees, partly sunny, great grooming, mile to flood, almost 2000 vert of awesome turns. Could have been a bit firmer but overall a great time. East side of the mile a little firmer than the west. Managed 20,000 vert before heading back to Seattle at noon. Back for next weekend for more hopefully.
  13. Dan/ Bryan Thanks for the generous offer. I have managed to obtain a 178 hotblast that i traded a powder board for with another BOL guy, a 171 Donek freecarve, purchased from a BOL guy, a 184 Donek metal GS protoype from 2010 and most recently, and yet to be ridden a new Donek 176 metal freecarve. Binding wise I have a set of Catek OS1 long plates and a set of TD3. Looking forward to riding with more experienced hardbooters. I have about 40 hrs or so with the alpine stuff. Started riding in 91 or 92 and for the last 12 years or so have averaged over 80 days a season, except for last season when I was out with work injury until mid April. Still got 25 in.
  14. Just pull up on the heel end of the foam pad. the toe end stays connected. It just snaps back in to place after you fasten the binding to the board. Just set up a pair of Diodes w/ the Bomber Power Plates to supplement my aging fleet of Catek Free Rides. Not a Burton guy, but so far I'm super happy with them.
  15. Been riding 20 plus years, accomplished soft boot carver, now messing around with harboots and really having fun with it. Probably be around all 4 days, Timberline/ Skibowl/ Stevens pass regular. Also have a place in Welches. Warren
  16. Didn't get a pass to Meadows this year, only the Fusion pass and one for Stevens in Wa. Had a Meadows pass for the past 6 years ( out w/ an injury last season) but self employment in the const industry dictated my pass purchaces this year. You do sacrifice some steepness at Timberline but Ski Bowl on a pow day, when it's good makes up for that. Mile to flood, better yet , Palmer to flood is a lot of turns, good grooming and no crowds, it's all good. I'm sure I'll see you around.
  17. Been riding at timberline since Sat. Donek 172 incline Sat.,Kessler 168 Bx Sun. Broke out the hardboots for the first time today. Had a great time!. Groom has been stellar, got pow from the cat all 3 days. No crowds to speak of. Hardboots again tomorrow for 2-3 hrs before driving back to Seattle.
  18. Plates came today! Smooth transaction . If it ever quits snowing I'll get a chance to try them out. Riding pow at Stevens pass tomorrow. Work for a week, then down to Hood for a week. Thanks again! Warren
  19. Hello Bryan, Not interested in freerides as I have 4 pair already. I believe we have met at Meadows and Timberline a couple of seasons ago. You may remember I used to collect Glissade snowboards, had about 30. Have since moved on to Doneks, both for soft and hardboots as well as a Kessler. This season only got a Fusion pass and a Stevens pass but in the past have had Meadows pass as well. Really starting to dig the hardboots! Perhaps we will cross paths in Oregon this season, would love to see your collection. Warren
  20. Hello evan, I'll take the Kessler plate. email me directly at sb4lf@ hotmaildotcom I live in the Seattle area. Thanks! warren
