  1. ARCrider, I have an AM69 that I enjoy, but was wondering how stable do you find the AM72 on hardpack and groomers?
  2. Wow! 103mph that's great!! Are you on offshoreonly.com? I used to lurk around....my screen name was O-Limit37. My family had a 1998 37 Stiletto with 575's on Winni...topped out at 92mph. We sold it last year...it was a very special boat...lots of great memories....I miss it a lot!! :(
  3. Can't help you with boots....sorry. Your screen name is in reference to the "Cafe Racer" Cigarette, eh? Nice! I've spent quite a bit of time on Lake Winnipesaukee in a large offshore. Fun, Fun!

  5. Just thought I'd pass this along to any newbie looking for gear... This afternoon, I stopped in at the Joe Jones in Campton, NH (Waterville Valley exit). In the snowboard room, it appeared that they unloaded everything from their stock room onto the retail floor. I stumbled upon ~10 older alpine boards for sale...the most I've ever seen in one shop!! There were some classic Killer Loops, Wild Ducks, and older F2's in the 160cm range. Some appeared to be slightly used while others looked brand new. Not sure of the exact ages or prices, but the boards must've been in the corner of a wharehouse collecting dust for the past five years or so. Anyways, if you're in the area and looking for a cheap starter board, this may fill your need. ps. I have no affliation with Joe Jones.
  6. I just upgraded from my SB324's (older Lemans) to a pair of Suzukas. I learned on the 324's and rode them for the past 5 years. I never had any problems with the 324's--no major issues with the cants or buckles. The 324's were a nice boot to learn on. I found the flex to be more forgiving especially compared to my new boots. If the boots you're purchasing are your first pair of hardboots and you're on the lighter side, you may have more fun with the Lemans. Also, you may find that they will better complement your all-mountain board and the type of terrain you want to ride. I love my new Suzukas, but I'm hoping to visit the bootfitter this week to dial things in and make some minor modifications. The stock footbeds are flimsy and the power strap (which is threaded through the rear cuff of the boot liner) is digging into my calves. A Thermo liner may be a necessity as well.
  7. Rugger, You're giving these deleted posts way too much credit. They stunk of an angry drunk tearing up the 'net with keyboard rage at 4:20 in the morning. There was absolutely no substance to them--scores of 0 and ludicrous bathroom stall one-liners like "They Suck!"
  8. jd- sorry to hear about your grandfather. Every once in a while 93 shuts down especially around New Hampton. You can always take Route 3 if 93 closes. here's the current weather report from WMUR: Saturday: Wet snow arrives around 8:00-9:00am. It hits its peak between Noon and lasts well into the evening and overnight. Expected accumulation: 8-12 inches in the North Country, 10-15 inches in the Mount Washington Valley, with 12-20 inches or more possible in the White Mountains. Increasingly windy throughout the day. Highs: 32 to 35. Winds: East 5-20 mph with higher gusts. Strongest winds on the southern slopes and south of the Mountains.
  9. Mark, I'll probably be riding a 172 Supermodel with plates this weekend. The angles are set at 50/45 right now but I may tweak them depending on conditions. On my regular carving set up my angles are typically around 58 degrees for both front & back. Last week I was in JH and travelled light so I demoed soft boots the whole time. I was riding a Burton Custom 160 with binding angles ranging from 45/40 to 35/25 with a 19" stance width. Ironically, the 35/25 actually seemed to work best for me. It had been over 5 years since I had been on softies so it was definitely an adjustment, but I still had fun. It's difficult to generalize and say "try x & y degrees" and away you go--there are too many variables. Experiment by gradually increasing your bindings to steeper angles and then hit the hill to find a set-up that is comfortable and works best for you. It's mostly trial & error....you may spend a lot of time with a screwdriver in your hands making minor tweaks or adjustments, but it's the only way to dial in perfect set-up.
  10. hey guy you must be looking at the flatlandah forecast....for up here we're looking at 3-5" tonight and 4-6" tomorrow. Ditch the carving board and go wide. I'll be the one in the one piece powdah suit. :D
  11. It's only Thursday and weather.com has already issued a severe winter weather warning for NH and Maine for the upcoming weekend. "... WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM FRIDAY TO MIDNIGHT SUNDAY..." The powdah's gonna be wicked pissah this weekend at Loon!!
  12. Manch- I just got back from a week in Jackson Hole. I've got the vacation hangover. I'm hoping to be at Loon this weekend. I'll try to meet you early in the Bunyan Room. It looks we may be getting another storm Friday night into Saturday. Break out the powder board!!! Harpoon Party on Sunday at Camp 3.
  13. When I was looking for new screws for my TD1's someone directed me to www.mcmaster.com Go to page 2938 on their website. I haven't ordered from them yet, but they have numerous sizes in the M8 stainless steel style.
  14. It's about 600ft vertical from the top of the headwall to the bottom of the bowl. Here's an interactive site that provides some maps, pics and more stats: http://timefortuckerman.com/tuckermanravinemap.html Avalanche danger can be considerable this time of year. Check out the pics from last year: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2024&highlight=tuckerman Most of the Headwall ripped with an enormous fracture line!
  15. Someone's got some balls...check out this pic taken on 2/26 from tuckerman.org
  16. A few weeks ago I saw an instructor at Loon on hardboots--new Deeluxe Indy's and a black Coiler PR. First time I saw him...anyone know of him? He was giving a group lesson to a bunch of little kiddies on softies. Maybe try him?? Otherwise you'll have to head to Sugarloaf or Stratton for a lesson. I don't know of any shops that rent equipment, but Lahouts in Lincoln and Ski Fanatics in Campton have a limited amount of carving gear. There's also a shop based out of Hampton, NH that carries some equipment. The shop lists much of their inventory on Ebay http://stores.ebay.com/Performancedownhill
  17. There's a few stores in my area that stock them as well. In the past I've been able to get some ridiculously great deals on close-outs by special ordering through a local shop. It doesn't look like I'll be able to work my connections for deep discounts this year. Since Bomber is distributing and retailing Deeluxes, I wonder....will prices eventually drop on boots?
  18. Just wondering if anyone has heard any news about the US Deeluxe distributor--Roces. At the beginning of the season they were experiencing some distribution issues/order delays. Then, this weekend I was told by an owner of a local ski shop that Roces has completely dropped the Deeluxe hard boot line. Anyone know what's going on?
  19. Thanks for the pic. How did the others come out? We got another 6 inches of wet snow last night. Colder weather is forecasted for later in the week--conditions should firm up and be nice & fast for the upcoming weekend.....[twisting your arm]:D
  20. j-d, It was great meeting and riding with all of you guys too. How about those conditions yesterday--they were even better than Saturday!!! I saw you guys at different parts of Sun. morning around 7 Bros and the East Basin, but was caught either on the lift or stuck in long lines. I'll be up there again this weekend. I'll email you later in the week. Gareth
  21. I made it up to Loon today. They picked up 8-12+ inches of heavy, wet snow. It was quite windy at the summit and the snow was drifting in spots. The trails were tracked out pretty quickly, but it was still fun blasting through the chopped up powder. Got stranded on the lift for 30 minutes when all of Lincoln lost power. Luckily, I was on the gondola!!! It's still snowing up here and flurries are forecasted for tonight. The mountains may pick up another 5-9 inches!! The conditions this weekend should be great.....[squeaky voice] HIGH PRESSURE will be moving across the region. :D
  22. Thanks! You're right, they do have everything!! I tried going on their site earlier this evening and got a headache. I made a second attempt and found the M8 bolts. If anyone is interested they're located on page 2938 of the mcmaster online catalog. They have sizes of the M8 ranging from 10mm up to 100mm--all in stainless steel.
  23. I'm playing around with the cant and lift on my TD1 toe & heel blocks. Someone gave me a a few 20mm and 30mm M8 bolts, but they're not stainless and are prone to rust. The Bomber Shop only carries the 16mm and 25mm sizes. Anyone know where to find stainless 20mm and 30mm M8's? Home Depot? Thanks.
  24. Oh yeah...Al Kaprielian....the guy is pure comedy!!
  25. Holy #%@*!! WMUR just reported that the storm has shifted north. They're calling for 12-20 inches from Lake Sunapee, across the Lakes Region, and up through the White Mountains. Conditions should be spectacular over the next few days.
