i've been reading a lot on the subject of binding placement on a board, angles, etc. and i feel very overwhelmed. i don't know anybody with a carving board and i'm looking for some help on how to do a baseline beginner setup that i can work off of.
i've been riding soft boots for about 15 years, mostly on the last year ('98 i think) burton freeride 3 strap bindings (33 degrees front, 30 rear). i've been wanting to try an alpine setup for a while and, with my very meager budget, now own a 165 burton coil which is in excellent condition. board specs are:
running length: 1390mm
nose length: 180mm
tail length: 85mm
waist width: 215mm
sidecut depth: 26mm
sidecut radius: 9.30m
the board came with what i'm pretty sure are burton performance bindings (from what i've been able to find out online), with toe/heel bails
the boots are raichle 224's, mp27
after a little messing around, it looks like i can get away with angles in the 42 - 45 degree area and have no drag
i am 5'10", 155 pounds, regular footed
i ride somewhat aggressively, but nothing too crazy
so, where do i start? minimum angles to achieve no toe/heel drag? centered on the board with feet shoulder's width apart?
thanks a lot for the help
