Any ideas for gloves for really cold weather? I tend to wear mitts when it gets below -20 celsius but I would like to find a nice pair of warm gloves good into the -30's. I probably wouldn't be snowboarding at that temperature but I am out and about in weather like that all the time. I have yet to find gloves that work well in extreme cold. I played hockey with a postman that swore by some hunting gloves that they sell at Canadian Tire that are Polar Shield (I think...) brand or something like that. I can't find anything online about them. I'll probably pop by Can Tire and pick up a pair and try em out.

I have been contemplating what board to buy next and I haven't even been on the first one yet. I was thinking about the freecarve. I've got to save my pennies though. My wife has me on an allowance!;)

I will try on my work mac.

I was able to get it to work last night. After installing perian (http://perian.org/) at the suggestion of another user here, you are able to open the movies in Quicktime Player and save the movies out as M4V files (which you can put in your itunes library). Takes about 30 minutes per episode on my somewhat ancient Macbook Pro.
Do you need quicktime pro? The "Save as" option only comes up for quicktime pro which I don't have. I suppose I should buy it. It's only $38.

Just got my boots today so I set everything up! I'm excited!
The bindings have a 3 degree toe lift on front and 6 degree hell lift on the back. About 55 on the front and 50 on the back. I have since changed them to 6 lift on front and 3 lift on back. It seems to put less strain on the outside of my back knee when I am on my knees. What do people do to keep from straining their knees (Twisting) when they are sitting down/kneeling?...I know, I know...Don't sit down or kneel! :D
Oxygen APX 165, Deeluxe 225T m26 boots, TD2s. Thanks for all your help!

Corey, sorry for the late reply. I was out of town this weekend. I don't know of any open-source converters or recorders off the top of my head, but I can look into it.
I've also been using Handbrake to convert some of my DVDs into iPod format and haven't had a problem. It works great, in fact. I haven't tried the OTB episodes yet, but I was planning doing so this week.

I use handbrake all the time for putting dvds onto my ipod but it doesn't seem to work for me with these episodes. Could you post the mp4 versions once you are done?

I've tried handbrake and it does not recognize the avi videos. i don't know if it's just my computer. I think handbrake does work for some avi but not all. some

I sometimes have found that Ibuprofen takes a bit off my focus. I noticed this playing hockey as a goaltender. It doesn't make me groggy but it seems to slow down my puck tracking just a bit. I don't know if this is just in my head but it affects me enough that I go to tylenol and save the Advil for after the game.

Haha "Cross Rocket!" I loved doing those! I don't think I could bend far enough to do that these days.
The old Barfoots were awesome! I wanted one when I first started.
And the Look board like Burt Lamar used to ride. Good stuff!
Sigh...the good old days! :D

I only have one set of bindings...for now. TD2s. Are there any spare parts I should bring with me just in case?

Sitting here this morning having some coffee and trying to figure out which Trees I want to turn above and which below...
preparation is 90% of the Job...:)
Is that the view from your window?!?! I'm jealous!

I have been reading about binding and board breakage and I started to think about what supplies and tools are useful to bring with you when you ride to ensure it is a great day. What do you bring to the hill when you go riding? Tools? Binding parts? Clothes? Food? Extra boards/boots?

HaHa! Great pic!

I just wanted to say that you guys have a very cool scene! It is great that you support the sport and local carving community the way you do.
I really appreciate the help that people like Boris And Carvingscooby have given to help me get back into the sport. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to head down for spring break to do some carving! :)
Cheers!

It's close as a skilled WC racer can cut it. A frame grab reveals the board just to the outside of the stubby.

Hope this helps.

Nice pic! Do they have a judge at every gate in races like this?

Thanks Scoob. You rule! Maybe I can get you back in Scooby snacks! I'll email you tonight after work.

I bought some TD2s a couple of weeks ago and they just arrived. I bought them without the center discs because the previous owner had 3 hole discs and i needed 4 hole discs. I ordered the 4 hole discs from Bomber. I just realized that I only have bolts for a 3 hole (Burton) disc. Oops. Are binding bolts standardized or do I need specific ones from Bomber?
If I do need specific TD2 bolts, does anyone from Canada have some they could sell me?
It takes a long time for stuff to get here through customs and I'm thinking I might be waiting a while for the bolts to get here from Bomber. I'm still waiting for my 4 hole discs to clear customs.
Can anyone help out a brainfartin noob? :D

i was trying to find a decently wide 29er tire that was studded. no luck.
I am inspired to go ride in the snow!

Do they still make Oxygen boards? I was trying to look them up seeing as how I'm now the proud owner of one! :D
-
Nice pics! Are you using studded tires or just running normal ones?

Billy Winters kills it on the uni. I'm gonna learn next summer. Good cross training....
Do it! It is a lot of fun. I wish there were more riders up here.

I am curious about this board but am I too heavy for it? I am thinking I'll want a board I can push once I start carving again.

Half pipes have gotten a lot bigger than when I used to ride them. I took a spin on the local one last year and I could barely make it to the lip. I am getting a bit chicken in my old age. It had nice transitions. It seemed like half pipes used to only have one line, a track running from jump to jump. Half pipes these days look awesome. Big smooth transitions. I wish I wasn't so worried about hurting myself. I would ride it all the time.
That being said for the couple of times a year I would ride, I never saw anyone riding it.
