    Buy yourself some new heels

I did........just didn't get here in time, actually delayed or I would have already had them on!

But no big deal,  I like fixing stuff and for $15 + postage I'll get a couple of seasons more  out of the old  pair as I'll downgrade them and the boot just to pow duty.  :biggthump

    How many days of riding

Hmm?   ..... a lot!   probably at least four 100+ day seasons on them and a couple of 50+/-  day seasons because of injuries and surgeries.

It's was my every day work boot, pow boot and hard charging carving boot.........with the same pair of Fintecs since new........I had been planning to downgrade this pair of 425's/Fintecs to just workdays or pow days.....which I will still do once I get the replacement arms from Walker/Bomber....I'll also replace the red rubber walking soles while I got them torn down.

Personally I was expecting the cable to let go some time this season like last time, but here we are........

With the arm broken, it may not be safe

Yeah.......probably not worth the time and effort.  I'd have to pull both Fintecs off their boot and open them up and rearrange the cable release to the other side and then put them back together then put them on the other boot........ a lot of trouble and questionable safety as you mentioned.

Fortunately I've had another set of Fintecs on order for my new 425's and they should be here Mon.....so if all goes well I'll only miss two days  of riding  :angryfire

  4. Yep,  upon further disassembly one of the inner arms broke off where it makes contact with one of the springs.  Part B  -  Inner Arm

Even in the Bomber parts photo of Fintec innards it's hard to discern the inner arm as its under the long arm mechanism that moves the two inner arms unless you've dissected one of these bad boys before.

Now I'm trying to rig a way to ride tomorrow ....I could switch the broken Fintec to the front boot and that would get me riding........ until the end of day when I would have to pull the liner out of the stuck shell and get to do The Walk Of Shame again, walking to my car in my Intuition liner on my left foot and carrying my board under my arm with an empty front foot boot shell still attached to it!

Ugh!  Not a good look!

    They're currently at about 51/40

    Hey CT,

Don't know UPZ's or f2 bindings..... but 51/40 angles on a 19 w board sounds like part of the problem.

The difference between the front foot and rear is usually not more than 5 degrees and none of my boards would feel/be responsive at 51/40.

Additionally 51/40 on a 19w board sure sounds like Boot Out potential on both feet.

I would try 55/50 .....or the maximum angles to not boot out and add a few degrees more to the rear foot.

Also, I'm sure the UPZ, f2 posse will chime in about the infamous f2 cant wedge debate and the  UP'zs notorious boot ramp issue...... but I'd put some lift under your front foot toe.

    Good luck!

  6. Was having a pretty good start to the day running some laps on the Olympic run at Heavenly with my Little Red Corvette when after my 4th lap pulling into the lift my rear Fintec won't release!

Ugh!  When I pulled the release cable I felt tension/pressure on the cable  but the Fintecs just won't let go.  I'd been here before many years ago with Fintecs but that time it was the cable that let go.

So I knew my day was done and released the front boot and skated with the rear boot locked in, from the lift uphill to access the main run back to the Stagecoach lift/parking lot.  That was a good workout but got up to the trail intersection and stepped back in and  rode back down in defeat.

I haven't taken the Fintec apart yet but when I got my Fintec/boot off the TD3 SW SI with a punch, when you pull the release cable one of the pins is  not retracting all the way like the other side.

Of course from my 1st Fintec failure I now carry a spare cable but this seems like an inner arm or inner spring failure which I haven't got parts for.  Ugh!!

    Anybody seen this???

your kinesthetic senses being whacked by the collision.

Yeah....there's probably some truth in that!

Actually ...Sense the collision (it will be a year ago this Weds!) All My Boards Feel Broke To Me!   It's has gotten somewhat better with my short carving boards, but so far getting my Mojo back has been such a sloooow process I'm thinking I will pack it all in and yard sale it all off  if I don't get any better than this by the end of this season!

    stuck/hesitation on toeside, right?

No......mostly the opposite, no control  and resistant to going left/heelside.  I'm actually fighting it (more like the board is fighting me!) both ways..... I turn right then too much speed then wash the tail and side slip to slow down then drop the nose then fight to nose to go left but end up throwing the tail out to side slip left  and slow down...... then drop the nose etc, etc.

I'm actually having (a little) more success on the groomers with my Donek Rev and Coiler Angrry  in getting my groove/riding back to pre collision.....but even those turns are butt ugly compared to last year but the boards are not fighting it happening!

just put your 6 on the back and try it?

Probably would if I had one here!   I pretty sure I have one back east at our summer home....but that's not going to be of any help until I can get my hands on it!

  9. I got TD3 SW SI's with a 3 degree cant disk on the front  and a 3 in the rear on a Moss PQ60 with has a lot of backset.  That was working great for me last year, at least before my collision....but  for the life of me this season I can't find  my groove in the pow and the boards fighting me and I'm just barely able to ride it, but not drive it like I had been!.  I have a little more control on the groom but was thinking of putting a 6 cant disk on the rear to get some power/weight back on the nose..............which, of course is counter intuitive considering it's design/backset to ride the tail but I'm at a loss and about ready to make toothpicks out of this board  by running it through one of the state highway  industrial size snow plow shredders we got out here!

    full-feedback little beast

    Hey jims

Thanks for the info.   Yeah I have always wanted to try one but the most  frequent feedback I heard is the MK has a leg numbing buzz which wears ya out and adds to it not being ridden more than 2-3 hours per session by most riders.

Sean and I discussed the use of a UPM plate could reduce this buzz and increase it's all day potential.  So I know what my next board is to be if/when I need an (even) more turny board!

With all the ft. of snow were getting out here  groomer days to let this little Coiler bandit run has not happened yet.  I've only had maybe a dozen  test ride runs in soft  afternoon chopped up groom....but it's lively!

Alas, were expecting another 60 inches over the next 5 days again so out on the pow board again tonight!

Have fun and stay safe out there!

    Her's the little bandit.........

    cheaper source for the cables?

I didn't think Intec cables and Fintec cables could be interchanged as the connection to the heel is enclosed and permanent on Intecs.

The only cheaper option would be to just use Intecs heels.....YYZ has the whole heel for $99 cad.  Which equals $73US which comes out to less than half of Fintecs......of course Intecs they have their own pros/cons also at that price.

    It is absolutely freaking awesome.

Jim is yours stock or a mutant offspring like Corey's??                                How long you had it??   How long can you/do you ride it when on the hill?

I was tempted by Sean's willingness to make me a 20w UPM MK mutant but I went with a Coiler Angrry 160 UPM (F PLate) that just arrived before xmas.

Really enjoying that as a step up from my Donek Rev 163 UPM (F PLate) in .......livelyness, velocity,  violent direction changes and ability to ride it all day long!

just flipped between Ski//Carve/Walk settings on the switch.

Yeah, I'd really like to do this  with my 425's but my pow board loves to carve when I pop out on the groom so using BTS and 1/2 edges really makes a difference on my carving but doesn't seem to cost me anything in the pow.

I was hoping to get rid of BTS but just haven't found anything better considering I do  both mediums.....on the same run usually!

is the board any different structurally?

Guts wise it's a pound for pound copy of Cory's 160 Angrry with  XXT scr treatment.   Bruce added torsional stiffness for my 230lbs. and to reduce the strain on the UPM inserts.

    You gotta.

I will as soon as I can get it dialed in (with the plate!) and can drive it instead of just hanging on for the violent velocity change as my dental fillings are popping out from the g-forces!

If the ride with the plate is any indicator, to ride it without a plate  I'm gonna  need a G-suit to keep from passing out when changing direction!  :freak3:
