  1. Any one ridden a Goltes board available on the Upz site? I was interested in the return to use as an all around board. They are cheap only 299.00 as oposed to a Prior 4x4 at 700.00.
  2. Did the shell test at Bomber and is the right one. I just sold a pair of 27's as they were too big and am now down to a 26 which was so tight at first that I could barely tighten the buckles down on the first notch I doubt I could fit into a 25. When I wore them around the house my whole foot would be red after about 20 minutes so I know they were tight which is good. Now they are a little loose. Isn't there another moldable liner on the market that is better than a thermoflex? I have ridden these boots for5 days now. I think that both the shell and the liner stretch out as the boots break in .
  3. I am using custom insoles molded to my foot. Started with a thin sock and now am using a thicker one as my feet were moving a little bit due to liners packing out. I might use my cork custom insoles to get a little tighter fit next time. Also was using intec today. I am going to scrap that idea as I have been using standard bails and like them better. Might have to give the polyurethane heels a try. Thanks for the tips. I am not going to give up.
  4. Anyone out there having problems with heel pain and pain in the bottom of your feet? If so were you able to figure out the cause? My heels and the bottom of my feet hurt really bad when I am riding. I had to quit today becuse of it. Am using insoles with a Deluxe Susuka boot and either Catek or Bomber td1 bindings. I went to a boot fitter and they thought it might be because of the bindings. I have never had this problem before. I can't continue to ride like this because I am concerned about doing some damage. The boots have a thermoflex liner and seem to fit pretty well. It usually takes a while before they start to hurt.
  5. Interested in a pair of Deluxe Indy boots size 26 with thermoflex liner
  6. I will be off work part of next week 15,16,17 November as I have to use up the rest of my vacation time as there is no other time to use it. Could ride then at Keystone Abasin or Breck although might be favoring Abasin as the conditions seem to be better there. I guess Breck will be opening this week maybe Friday. Went to Keystone yesterday was okay as long as you stayed on the 1 run right under the lift that was groomed. otherwise you had to ride crusty granulated bumps which I got stuck doing for a couple of runs. At Keystone you still have to ride a lift up and download to the bottom as there is no top to bottom riding yet. Not a big deal. Just make sure you stay on the trail underneath the lift for now.
  7. No I rode with a guy that was riding a Kessler and I also did several runs with Elizabeth who was riding on an f2. We had a good time- She encouraged me to go to Copper to do some race training. I doubt I will be doing that because of the expense and i don't know if it would be good on my knees in the ruts. I know- excuses, excuses but I think 42 is a little old to start racing. I last ran gates 1989 or 1990 in the Rocky Mountain Snowboard series at Abasin. I was riding a Snowtech Pulsar with Asolo mountaineering boots.
  8. How much difference in the ride quality between td1 and td2 and catek? i currently am riding td1's and Catek World cups and I also have a pair of Catek olympics. I can't tell much difference between these bindings when it comes to dampening. I feel they are all very close and all work well. Just wondering if td2 is way better ?
  9. Probably not as I purchased the 5 mountain this year. I wanted to ride at Vail and Beaver Creek this year. I hope to go to some of SES this year maybe. I sure had fun riding with you and Bola and Pete and the crew at Loveland last year. Will be riding on Wensdays and Sundays and then some vacation time as well. I will post where I am going . I rode with some hardbooters last Wensday and had a great time at Abasin.Maybe we will meet up sometime this season.
  10. Anyone been to Keystone yet? I am thinking about going there on Wens 11/8. If is not very good I will go back up the hill to Abasin.
  11. Will be at Abasin today11/1. Will be riding yellow and black renn tiger 173 with orange head boots. Will be leaving shortly. Hope to see someone there? i will be riding on Wensdays and Sundays although I might wait a while on Sundays until more is open due to long liftline wait last Sunday.
  12. I demoed 1 last season-Head inteligence 168 with soft boots.I didn't like it at all in bumps because it gets stiffer as you pressure the edges more. It is fine elsewhere and works real well in chopped powder. It really isn't designed to be ridden in bumps. I thought it had a harsh ride at times. Easy to ride board and well made. Bola had 1 to demo last year maybe he will have 1 this year for demo. I also demoed a Dupraz D1 and ended up buying that board instead.
  13. The Roost Lodge in West Vail is the cheapest place to stay. It has an outdoor hot tub and the rooms are clean. Also has free shuttle to lifts which will save you having to pay to park. I stayed there 2 years ago and it was 80.00 a night.I don't know what the current rates are now but I'll bet it will still be a good deal.
  14. Has anyone ridden#two the board available on the pure carving website? If so would it be similar to a Burton 163 e deck or a Prior 4x4? It looks like a fun all around board. I would probably want to try the 164 if I had the chance.
  15. Go to Bomber when the season is farther along and demo an entire setup. That will be cheaper than buying a pair of boots and you won't have to scrounge around trying to find bindings as well. I would call first to find out when they are starting and how much it will cost to do this. They were doing this last year for real reasonable rates. Have fun!
  16. Will be riding at the 5 summit resorts as I bought the 5 mountain with the 10 days at Vail and Beaver creek. I hope to be able to ride on Sundays and wensdays. And a couple of vacation weeks as well. Is the Roost lodge still the cheapest place to stay in Vail? I live in Denver and might want to spend a week in Vail this year.
  17. Your'e right about finding an available Swoard used as I posted last year to try to find one. You might check with Sean at Donek snowboards because he is going to make some boards similar to a swoard this year. He doesn't have them listed on his website yet but I read a post somewhere that he will be making them. I would bet they are cheaper than a swoard as well.
  18. Don't waste your time with ski boots. Get snowboard boots. you will learn faster and have more fun. It will be harder to learn in ski boots because they don't flex properly for snow boarding. Bomber has some boots on sale right now if you can't find a used pair. Good luck and have fun!
  19. I agree don't skimp on bindings. The older bindings have a tendency to break especially on cold days because the plastic gets brittle. Also as said earlier bails will break. Better snap up those Cateks! Also the newer bindings are more adjustable and will allow you to progress better and enjoy it more.
  20. Another boot idea- If your current boots seem too soft keep them anyway because you can use them for all mountain riding and powder days on a wider softer board. I ride Raichle lemans boots all mountain and Head boots when I am on harder snow conditions and groomed snow with a stiffer board. I weigh about the same as you 185-190. Have fun! You will find you can do more runs in a day with hard boots because there is less leg fatique once you get used to them.
  21. Does anyone know what the price will be for an Aspen clasic pass this year or if they will be available this year? I went on the Aspen ski area website and nothing is mentioned about it. Is it good for 4 days? Would like to know so I can decide about going to SES this year.
  22. Just start out easy on a wide open area that isn't steep. Practice doing different size turns and you'll figure it out. I never try to go super fast because I am more interested in doing turns and working my legs out similar to snowboarding.
  23. How about control line airplanes? I am doing that and having fun. I enjoy competing in controline stunt and hope to go to Tuscson to fly in the vintage stunt championships someday. This hobby has a small following like carving. It is unfortunate since we have better gear than was available years ago.
  24. For those of you that ride longboards during the summer in Denver have you found some good places to ride? I have gone to the Denver skatepark but would be more interested in a hill to ride that isn't too steep or full of traffic.
  25. Thank you for the post. I enjoy looking at old equipment since I was riding when all of it came out.(this is my 27th season). I rode cat bindings when they first came out. Way better than my snowpro vario p3's that broke all the time.I rode several asym boards-Kemper apex, Mistral 159 and a Hooger 164. The Hooger and the Mistral reside in Fin's mueseum.I also demoed a Hot Logical and wanted to buy it but didn't have enough money at the time. It is nice to not have to deal with ski screw mounting on boards!
