    Do you mean the "Nuit de la Glisse" (http://www.nuitdelaglisse.com/assets/philosophy.html) tour? As far as I know the tour was started in France in 1979. Later it was also shown in Germany, Austria, etc. These movie presentations were pretty important at that time and presented these "funsports" to a wider public. "Apocalypse Snow" was part of the tour in 1983 if memory serves me right.

    And I think it was Thierry Donard, also a camera man for the "Nuit de la Glisse", who asked Henri Nidecker, who owned a wood processing company, to build 3 boards for their movie project.

  2. I can´t think of any WC riders at the moment which do not use a plate in SL races.

    For non racers the question is what your focus is. When I ride shorter SL boards I tend to play around more and do more drills because of the easy handling of these boards (

    ). In such situations a plate would not be very helpful (weight, edge grip faster and more aggressive, ...). On the other hand you can also feel the advantages of a plate (better pressure distribution, increased leverage, more dampening, ...) on SL boards, especially when the going gets tough (hard icy slopes, moguls, ...).

    It´s interesting that some racers who use the plates in races would not recommend them for everyday use, especially when the slopes are not icy.

    I just mounted a vist plate to my SG Full Race Pro Team 163 ... this setup really turns the board into a battleship ;) ... weight - 7,3kg and this is with the "light" Ibex bindings. Let´s see how long it will stay on this board ...

    The longer the boards the more I use plates on them. Although I still use my boards a lot without plates.

    It will be interesting to find out how the new plates change the ride.

  3. This was an amazing board - held an edge well at speed, but you could also force it into extremely tight turns ... memories ... :ices_ange

    Not sure about the performance 16 years later ...

  4. First off, I have not been on the latest F2 shapes.

    I have been on metal boards from F2, Apex, Kessler and SG. None of these boards were too damp or lifeless. I´m not sure where this general notion comes from ... but I have never ridden the same shape with and without metal in the same conditions. Maybe this would bring out some new aspects ...

    For me the metal boards provide excellent edgehold and better vibration absorption. Therefore I use them.

    If money is no issue, I would take the WC edition (especially for an aggressive and experienced rider!), but I am sure that the Equipes are also nice boards.

  5. I would say that you could stay with the same length. Although you could go down a few centimeters, if you want, because the newer boards have a slightly bigger radius and the effective edge is also a bit longer. But it is not that much ...

    The specs on the F2 site are a bit confusing. The shapes are the same! For the Equipe series they give you an average of the different radii, while the specs of the WC series focuses more on the tail radius. I guess that guys who buy the WC edition are not afraid of big radii ;) ...

  6. @pogokoenig - which screws do you exactly mean and what was the problem? Remo told me that they use special (rather expensive) screws on their bindings ...

    @jacopodotti - what exactly do you refer to? The plastic lever itself? Because for me it is one of the best shapes out there!

  7. The specs on the Equipe series stayed the same for the whole range. They might have tweaked the flex and camber/decamber curve a bit (as is said about the World Cup Edition on their site), but there won´t be much difference.

    For the WC Edition there is a new 187 length. Otherwise the specs also stayed the same (despite the refinded flex pattern which I just mentioned).

  8. The 2011 RC 10 uses completely new screws almost everywhere! The heel blocks are t-nutted right out of the box. No need to upgrade anything :biggthump .

    The second buckle from the top is slightly higher than last year´s model, but it still touches the next buckle on my back foot ... :(
