Just last night, I had stopped and waited for a 'window' to go, went down the hill, went heal side, went toe side, came back heal side, and found a skier straight-lining it, and got clipped by the rear of his ski pole.
I followed him down the hill, and told him at the bottom that I don't appreciate being whacked by a ski poll as he passes. He immediately gives me that answer that he didn't pass me, that I "cut him off". I tried explaining that he overtook me, therefore he did pass me, and I don't have eyes on the back of my head, and not everyone goes 'straight' down the hill. He eventually gave me a 'whatever', and I gave up, I don't think he understood, I said I wasn't trying to mean or anything, just that he should pay more attention and give people more space.
Later in the evening, I was standing on the edge of the trail, looking up, waiting for a 'window' and I watch this snowboarder straightlining down the edge of the trail for quite a distance, so he had plenty of time to see me. I realized he wasn't going to move much, but I just held my ground, he passed me by about 4 ft to my right..there is no excuse for that. There was 40ft of trail for him to move further away.
