    Helmet Cameras

Just bought a Gopro HD helmet and I haven't been out on the hill yet but it seems to have a pretty wide and sharp image. Would be nice to see what you are recording but because of the super wide angles if you are in the general direction you'll be fine.
  5. Good idea, so where exactly do you place something like this to decrease heal life? Did you put yours on the backside of the liner?
  6. When you say smaller boot are you meaning a different size (mondo) or a differerent manufacturer at the same size. My foot feels pretty cramped in there right now length wise and really tight width wise, just the vertical movement is annoying when changing toeside/healside. Hopefully I'll make it out to pine knob soon, I have Thursday's off and I may try to make it out there this next Thursday coming up. When do you usually go? I'd love to go when someone else is out there so I can get some pointers (still a big noob that is used to softboot carving). `Matt
  7. I checked those out, I might have to wait until next year to get those. Just bought a house and got married so budget is a bit spread already. I'll do the test to see what I have. Thanks
  8. I should re-state that... By tightening them down as much as possible I mean as tight as I can physically tighten them, not tight as in the strap isn't short enough. I'm not sure on the gap between my foot and the outside shell, is there an easy way to measure that?
  9. I have a pair of Deeluxe boots that I bought off a member last year. When I'm in the boot I can tighten them down as much as possible but I still get heal lift in the boot. What have people done to remedy this? ~Thanks
  10. Wanting to upgrade my all mountain Ride Yukon with a Donek stick.
  11. 2nd season hardbooting, hopefully I can meet up with you sometime!
  12. I started hardboot carving last year and this is where I got all my information to get started, not to mention a new set of used equipment to get the ball rolling. I need to find out where everyone in Michigan boards so I can get some tips. ~MAtt
  13. I am in Michigan and have been carving about 4 tmies on my alpine board around the area. The other week I went Mt. Holly and the first run up I saw a fellow hardbooter and was amazed, I haven't seen another yet! Later on in the day I saw 2 more in MICHIGAN, I was amazed and it was fun talking to everyone. I hope someday I'll be ripping it like you guys, thanks for the pointers, my legs can't hold these edges all day they start burning like crazy.
  14. Hey guys, just found these on dogfunk.com, great deal on Malamutes http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/SAL1444/Salomon-Malamute-Snowboard-Boot-Mens.html
  15. You think it's tough on a 158, try a 182 axxis in Michigan where the carving slopes are few and far between =). To bad I weight 275 or else I would get a shorter board! I will say this, I am probably one of the faster mothers out there on the flats =). I feel ya on the first time being hooked, I was the same way! I can't wait to get back out there again, we have had some crappy weather the last week that has been holding me back. Good luck with the tighter turns, just know that I am out there experiencing the exact same thing.
  16. Thanks guys, I read the article and it all makes sense, I can't wait to go try it!
  17. Hi everyone, I just spend the day out carving for my 3rd time on an alpine board. I was feeling good everything was working out, but while I was riding up the chairlift I noticed something wierd about my actual carves. The carve while looking normal like a C was fine, but on my toe side carves I noticed that there seem to be something dragging, the line wasn't crips like my healside, it was wider. As I progressed throughout the day I was trying to figure this out but failed. I went on some blacks(Michigan Blacks = Blue) and I noticed it even more on the steeper slopes. I also checked to make sure I set my bindings so that I didn't have any toe overhang, which I don't. I don't see this as a big issue because i still hold edge fine, but it annoys me that I'm not getting a nice crips carve. Any recommendations? P.S - I weight 275, could this be an issue? Is my board not strong enough to hold my weight? Donek Axxess 182.
  18. I had the same issue with the plastic piece breaking off. 2nd day on them 2nd run, other than being upset and wasting my $45 for the day, bomber sent me new stuff. I hope that this gets resolved quickly.
  19. Hey guys, I'll be up at Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob this upcoming weekend, will anyone be there?
  20. Thanks Michiganders. I sent Pat a PM. I will be traveling up North Jan23-25th to go on my annaul Boyne Bombers trip. Will anyone be up there at that time? On a side note, I have been doing the "Boyne Bombers" trip for about 5 years, when I found this site I was overjoyed to see the name of it. lol:1luvu:
  21. Thank you for the insight, my search begins. WHERE ARE YOU CARVERS AT IN MICHIGAN!
  22. Hey guys, Well today was my first day on hardboots and a carving board. I live in Michigan so the choices in hills aren't the greatest but I went to a nearby hill that I usually go to. First of all I snapped in my front boot and man was I uncomfortable, it felt so wierd wearing hardboots. I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to make it down the hill at all without falling, which I soon realized was incorrect. The first couple of runs i took it slow mostly just skid turns to get used to my gear. Then i decided to turn it up a notch and start trying to hold an edge . I was very pleased with the edge hold, and was actually not ready for how much it actually held. I did a few green circles, a couple blues (which in Michigan aren't much) in which I was trying some techniques I have read on Bomber which helped. I was getting more and more comfortable leaning more and more but the edge wouldnt give. The only thing that actually did give were my legs which werent used to all the pressure and hold. I made it about 2 hours before my legs were burning and my feet were killing me. At this point I changed to my softboots and was trying to compare my carving abilities. It was a very slow day at the hills so I could see all my lines from previous hardboots. After a few runs with my softboot setup i was kind of shocked that my lines looked very similiar between the two. I guess I was expecting a tighter turning radius and a more C shaped turns. Overall I was very pleased with the performance and I can only hope to get better, start leaning more and eventually be an extreme carver. I think the only thing that is going to hold me back is my disbelief in the amount of hold my new setup will have. Any thoughts, recommendations?
