Boogieman:
What type of board do you ride in Belgium?????
-
Hey Bob:
I respect you abiding by Shaggy's wishes.
Without letting the cat out of the bag - please give us an impression of what they look like:
Stealth
Radical
Classic
I guess where I am going - are we going to be impressed with the finished product???
Inquiring Minds Want to Know.
All the best,
Rob

Jack:
Noticed the same - looks like 158's, 170's and 1??'s.
There only seems to be a couple of them, so they may be secret weapons for Shaggy and Mike (maybe even Shred).
Bob - will appreciate the photo's if you are able to take them.
All the best,
Rob

Hi All:
I am planning to come to SES and currently look like I will be travelling solo from Toronto, Canada.
I am hoping to hook up with a group or create a group that has available space and hopefully some means of getting to and from the different resorts.
If there are groups looking for an additional lodger - please feel free to e-mail me with the details.
If there are others in the same postion as me, get in contact and maybe we can camp out together.
All the best,
Rob

She has a big decision:
Where is the best place to use her Wax - board or body?
-
SkateGoat:
I have had goods going both ways across the border.
There are many ways of getting around the potential taxes/duties.
I have sent/received numberous skateboard/snowboard packages from the US (I am in Canada) and about 99% of the time - I get them through duty and tax free.
Plus, you have the benefit of the dollar exhange, that makes goods from Canada slightly cheaper.
Hope it helps

Tom:
You should be able to find a great crew of carvers at Hunter.
Every year I head to the East Coast Expression Session (ECES) and many of the participants call Hunter their home mountain.
You will be in good hands with them.
All the best

Matt:
I will get back to you by the end of the week.

Hey Jack:
Just wanted to thank you for all your efforts in the past ECES's - they have been absolutely excellent and is the best riding I do all season.
Not knowing what has transpired - who is currently controlling ECES LLC???
Thanks and all the best,
Rob
-
Thanks Randy
I did some looking and not too much available.
I am now willing to buy - I will accept used, old, damaged leathers as long as they protect my body.
All the best,
Rob

Knowing that a lot of you are into motorcycles - I have a huge favor to ask.
I am racing in a downhill skateboarder event and need to borrow a set of motorcycle leathers. They don't need to be in great shape, just enough to protect my body.
If anyone has either a one or two piece suit that will fit someone 185 lbs, 5'9" and a 34 - 36 waist - I would like to hear about it.
Please contact me directly at hsl@pathcomDOTcom.
Anything and everything would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have to agree with everyone elses posts - I did not like any of the topsheets done by the high school students.
Don't get me wrong - I think it was a great idea for them to try their best and demonstrate their art skills, but we are the ones paying for the boards and should be asked and not forced to decide.
I would love to see something that makes the board look unique, for it is a unique board, but would like to stay away tacky (sp).
A funky topsheet color with a Madd logo and our personalized name would be great. Another option would be something like Texalium® (Aramid/Carbon) - really sleak and space-age looking.
In regards to names - should be name your board if you want or have in with the size only.
Just my 2 cents.

Henry:
I am 40 myself and the level of control in a longboard skateboard is very similar to a carving snowboard.
I am also doing a lot of slalom on a skateboard - running through complex courses of cones.
I am based in Leaside (Bayview and Eglinton).
There is a group of longboarders that get together every other week - next ride is Sunday, June 27, 2004 - send an e-mail to Tom Browne (tbrowne@goodmedia.com) and he will send you all the details.
All the best,
Rob

Henry;
Actually looking for a friend.
If you want to get into longobarding/skateboarding - send me an e-mail.

Big Tone:
I have to agree with Noah - I had an ACL receonstruction almost 15 years ago and the repaired knee works better than the original.
My surgeon was pretty agressive with rehab (he was the Canadian Ski Team Ortho) and I was out cycling 5 weeks post surgury and was able to board the next winter with a sports brace.
Understanding it is not you first choice, but getting it repaired properly with give you the security that it is not going to fail mid season.
Hope it helps

From my experience I would recommend a traditional longboard skateboard over any of the hybrid carvers.
The perfromance and stability of a longboard feels almost exactly like an alpine board on the road.
I would recommend a Bozi MB-II (44" - 48" long) - www.boziboards.com - set-up with either Randall 180's or Seismic 180's trucks. There is a wide range of wheels to choose from, but the ABEC 11's or 3DM's give you the most traction and speed.
Vlad, is also on the money a longer slalom board (Bozi GS36, Insect, Roe, Pocket Pistol) would perform like a Madd 158 on the pavement. Add a slalom course of cones and you have a summer full of fun.
Add in slider gloves and you can lay down carves with your hand on the pavement.
Just my 2 cents.
All the best,
Rob

Al:
If there are so few of you - then this guy should be known and avoided like the plague.
All the best,

Hey John:
You posting is one of the best I have read on this board over the years.
Thank you for putting the love of the sport and the presence of the positive vibe found in all us into words.
This is the attitude that this sport needs to grow and mature - no one needs to dominate the market (we are lucky we have the manufacturers we have and welcome more) and I don't think anyone needs to be the absolute best on any hill - just enjoy the sport for how it makes us feel and the pleasure we get doing it. The same in needed in slalom skateboarding as well.
Not to get too philosophical (sp?) - just wanted to thank you for sheading the real light about this small community we all live in.
All the best,
Rob
