  1. Another rider down

OddJob is out with a jacked up ankle, but today saw the return of 3 of the walking wounded, The Dude, Inky, and Karver Kai.

Mr Positve and Everett have returned from their racing jaunt on the east coast, and we were treated by are rare appearance of Mr Awesome. I even got an "awesomely smooth riding" from Mr Awesome.  Conditions were mixed, with Roulette wind  burnished nice and firm, and firecut groomed, variable on the soft side. Everyone was laying down some nice turns despite the 150mph winds laced with 00 buckshot sized ice pellets.  Oh, it was sunny for once as well, and relatively empty, we didn't even need to hop on the short bus today. I could say that I will miss all of you when I am in Aspen next week, but I would be lying

Mario, I will see you in Aspen if I survive the banked sl at copper tomorrow. Still healing from Fridays crash off the bank.

  2. I found James in the patrol clinic. He thought that his right ankle injury was a sprain. He said he was trying to avoid a straight liner when he chattered out on a toeside turn. I found his car and drove it to the clinic. The patrol helped him down the stairs and got him to his car. He couldn't put weight on the ankle but could flex it. Told him use use left foot for breaking. We both left around 11:30 and found plenty of traffic. Hope he made it home OK.

  3. Bindings received in excellent condition and mounted on Virus Tantalus II Evolution III. Tested yesterday. This is a heavy duty binding and stiffer than I recalled, but it seemed to work well with UPZ's.

    Thanks Pete.

  4. I think a strong rider of your weight would be fine. However it's not a board for easy cruising. You would need to use a bit of up and down motion to make it work. If you put an isolation plate on it, it would be great as that allows the board to flex more. I have tested it with a Virus plate, a Jasey Jay plate and a vist plate. I liked the vist plate the best due to the lower height and better board feel.

Let me know if you have other questions.

  5. Board is in excellent condition with one base grind and about 25 half days of use. Lots of edge left. Waist width of 19.2 cm. Variable sidecut not listed by Virus. Medium + flex for 175 lb rider. It measures about 178 cm long. About a half inch of camber. $600 plus shipping. Has a bit more taper than typical of a gs board. Great for flatter courses where you can go straighter at the gates.

  6. Thought I would start out the season with a little "Gilmour Bias". First up a 20 cm wide Kessler 162 sl with a 7-12M sidecut. Stance angles are 55 and 50 degrees. Front boot back about half an inch, back boot forward about half an inch. Impressions: noticed difference gliding off lift on front foot - more control. Heel side and toe side turns felt more solid. Easier to initiate and finish turns. Could really feel the back foot (toe) on the toe side and the front foot (heel) on the heel side turns. Quicker edge to edge. Think I will keep it this way. Thanks, John.post-6992-141842420243_thumb.jpg

  7. Yesterday had similar wind and visibility but a lot more snow. Another great powder day. Rode the swallowtail powder board on 8 all morning. Tracks covered after each run. As the bumper sticker says "Loveland cold.windy.you wouldn't like it". A little frostbite on the goggle balaclava gap on the face to prove it.

  8. I got one too. Very accurate description of Monday's weather, except for the 18 inches of pow. The wind pretty much filed in the tracks after each run. Best pow day of the year. Rode 9 to 1, with plenty of pow still available.;)

  9. Sorry to hear the bad news Pat. I was looking forward to racing with you at Snowmass. I sprained my ankle almost 3 weeks ago riding softies on a bx board. Hit a compression and hyper flexed my back ankle. Can ride hard boots, but it hurts the ankle bone a bit.

Hope to see you at Snowmass in a few weeks. And take care of that ankle.
