  1. I was at Smithers last weekend giving a course and saw two hard booters. Then, I met one of them, Harm, who is a great guy and looking forward to meet other hardcore carvers. I've told him to check this forum. Anyone looking for dry powder or nice open run should consider Hudson Bay Mountain. No line-up and barely anyone on the hill. The only problem is they have only 1 triple chair (17-20min to the top) and the rest are T-bar.
  2. Sorry for late reply. I was very busy with other trainings last 3 weeks. About the Super-G/Downhill, I spoke with another coach. I will let you guys know if anything gonna happen. For gate training at Cypress, I'm thinking to put one up this Sunday morning. In order to keep it simple, it will be a single lane course with 10-15 gate and it will be set below mid-way chair. In order to run the training, $2 will be charged for insurance purpose. Please let me know how many of you are planning to come out this Sunday. If you need a lift ticket, please let me know on before Friday so that I can arrange a 50% off lift ticket. Looking forward to see you guys this Sunday.
  3. Hi carvers/racers, I have 2 questions would like to get some thoughts from you guys: - Me and another race coach want to put up a fun alpine event. If it's a downhill/super-G event, we wonder how many people are interested? and what do you think? (For location, it will be somewhere interior BC) - For those who live in lower mainland, anyone interested in gate training at Cypress? If yes, what date and time you prefer? Of course, it won't be free. Small amount of fee will be charged. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome! Thx
  4. Yeah, I was there yesterday. Did 3-4 runs. A bit sore (from too much computer work during the summer) Will be busy with CASI and coach training at Whistler next week. Should be back to Cypress/Grouse in 2 weeks. :)
  5. Whistler just annonced early opening on this Sat. It will be a huge line-up at the base. @.@
  6. OMG! Cypress intends to open this Wednesday! "Mountain Update: With last evening's 30 cm snowfall we are working to open as much terrain as possible for Wednesday. We have some wet weather forecast for the rest of today and tomorrow before clearing for Opening Day." Yesterday, some people went up to Cypress did some riding on the parking lot: @.@
  7. I heard Snow School has postponed their staff on-snow training. In addition, previously opening day was scheduled to be 19th (rumours). May be another week or so. :(
  8. Whistler new video: At the end it said it may open sooner! I'm guessing 15th/16th.
  9. I heard Cypress will open 19th. Can somebody confirm it?
  10. I was the Vancouver Snow Show last night. Lots of people. Rail Jam is pretty cool. Some used equipment for kid had a fairly good price. Chatting with some of my friends inside. Sound like one of those Vancouver hills will open in mid Nov. Count down is on!
  11. From Cypress website: Our Pre-Season Season Pass Sale Ends November 1st, 2012! It snowed very lightly most of yesterday and it's still coming down early this morning - a bit of accumulation (1-2 cm) at the base but more up top. Temperatures did not drop low enough for Snowmaking last night but the crew are on 24 hour standby waiting for the right temps to make more (click on the new Video on the right). We hauled snow form the parking lots all of last night to get the loading station of Eagle Express ready for a possible early opening! Be sure to catch our final Pre-Season Season Pass Sale deadline with just over a week to go! Get ready to Shred!! I have a feeling they are trying to open on Nov 2 and break the record again... Geo, I only have an old used freeride 145. Sorry.
  12. Sorry, can you tell me what is "NOS"? has to be between 148-158cm freeride board, right?
  13. Hey Dustin, please let me know if you still have the boot available. Thx Pan
  14. Last season, Cypress opened on Nov. 8 Wonder if Cypress will still be the first one to open this season?
  15. To answer reverse side cut and other questions:
  16. Canadian Alpine Race Team coach Mark Fawcett has his own brand snowboard: http://www.fawcettboards.com/ - Reverse Side-Cut - Low profile, rocker nose, flat center and traditional flip tail Future Series: Woodies - with or w/o binding - no steel edges Wish I can get one of these and try it in powder!
  17. Hey Boris, good to know you recovering well. I've tried to edit the title, doesn't work. Have to ask Jack to change the thread's title or start up another thread. Internal training, does it mean there are on-snow training too? So, Cypress will open that weekend. NEW CASI video, course guild, manual, schedule are all updated. You can check them out on CASI web site. There are three CASI 3 courses in Vancouver region, one in Dec at Cypress, two in March at Cypress and Grouse again. They have added one more day to the course and change the teaching material. More detail can be found in the course guild. I heard Andrew will take care the snow park. That means, bigger park with more features this season. Boris, may be you want to do a gathering for all the Van carvers before the season start! Can't wait to be back on snow again!
  18. Just saw these SBX Green 921 snowboard for sell from Canada Snowboard. Asking for $750. Here is the spec of this board 921 model http://green-snowboard.com/snowboards-sbx/boardercross-world-cup-shape/green-snowboard-921-boardercross/ Here are the spec and description of Green snowboards: http://green-snowboard.com/pdf/green_snowboard_2011.pdf According to the spec file, it said these boards are developed by Marcel M (Canadian SBX coach) and manufactured by Aluflex. One interesting thing, it said "Premières planches SBX à rockers" => first SBX rocker board. Anyone saw this on world cup races or tried it in person? Would like to hear feedback from it.
  19. Not sure when will Grouse and Cypress be opened this season. Whistler opening day is on Nov. 22. I will be up working with the CASI crew until the Nov. 25. Hopefully, it won't be raining like last season. Will go up to Grouse to do some warm-up once it's open. Haven't do much exercise this summer. Mostly surfing in front of computer. Boris, when will Cypress be opened? Any insider news? How's your hip recovering process?
  20. We are a GS team based in Vancouver region. I'm helping for my athletes looking for alpine boots 28 and 28.5. Please let me know if you have this size of boot for sell. Thanks
  21. Just wonder if you still have this boot for sell.
  22. Just curious anyone tried their board. Any comments on them? Kanneboards.com
